Here might not be the most appropriate place to raise this point but are we ever going to see Icewind Dale II in Blighty?
After the 6th trip to my local Game shop to learn of the 6th delay, this time indeffinately, I'm starting to get a little frustrated.
Playing IWD II vicariously through the Stateside members of the forum is fun but not that fun.

Strange. I bought my copy from a firm in the UK by E-mail more than a month ago. How come it's not in the other shops ?

Odd indeed. The London shops are usually up to date.
Where did you get your copy from. I may as well get hold of one online myself.
Thanks for your help.

You bought the game - has it been delivered? Mine is "on order" and has been for some time. IWD2 has yet to show up in London.

Here's the adress:

I don't know if it's a good price, but the service was very swift.
EDIT: Gruntboy, yes: I got it two days after ordering and I live on the continent. That was more than a month ago.
BTW, I hope I broke no forum rules by posting that link.

Same here, delays and delays
I'm gettin pissed, of course i could order the english (american) release but it would cost me 69 euros + shipping .... NO WAY! Damn it's a pc game! I could stand a bit further delay for non english countries but the fact that there's the same prob in the uk (no translations involved) really surprises me ...
Bioware makes cool games but blows in releasing them ...
Even amazon.co.uk stated (till today) that the release date would have been Nov. 8 ... i planned to buy a new ultra ata 133 80 GB HD and a brand new Geforce 4 4600ti to fully enjoy the game and now i got all these awesome gear and no game to play
Now they say it will be released Nov. 15 but i bet my left nut they'll keep delayin it till xmas ... damn market!

Hello everyone on me thread.
I have used the web to order everything from furniture and electronics to everyday groceries and when I first saw Ambiorix's site I have to say that I feared the worst.
The presentation was ameteurish and the performance was decidedly dodgy. I think I waited 2 minutes for the applet to download and as someone with a bit of knowledge in online transaction processing systems I was wondering why an applet was even being used in the first place.
However, I was frustrated - see above - and persisted.
Well, many thanks Ambiorix. My copy of IWD II was waiting on my doorstep when I arrived home tonight not 3 days after my original posting.
I've learned 2 lessons.
1) The internet does truly break down boundries (not sure when you will be able to actually find this game in our shops).
AND 2) As a long time listener and a first time caller the Gamebanshee network sorted me out. I'll probably sort myself out with a proper username and a picture maybe to keep you all in touch with how I enjoy the game.
Gruntboy, If you can cancel your current order and place a new one with the above link I heartaly endorse the effort.
Ta Ambiorix.

You're right, Edlington. The site is horrible. It's incredible how a commercial firm who sells through the net can make such an awful presentation. It took me ages to figure out how I could see the games that did not start with the letter A. But they sell everything I could possibly be interested in and ship fast.

What is the difference between the British/Euro verson and the American version of the game?

I have it and I got it on the high street in Brighton for £25.
BTW, I think the difference is the language, I've seen a lot of English and European when talking about game versions and patches (for other games, that is).
Also, it may have something to do with the way the cds are read. DVDs and VHS tapes are different between countries/regions, i.e. the US is Region 1, while the UK is Region 2 for DVDs.

Ah. That makes sense. Thanks!

I don't think this really applies to CD-ROM's does it?
I think its the European language conversion, and probably distribution issues.
What sort of differences do you mean Gwally, game ones?

I have a couple of games that have UK patches vs North American patches vs European patches, etc.
And like I said before, I have also seen English patches vs European patches.
Maybe it's just who makes the cd and how they do it for the individual games.

I was mostly thinking of program/physical differences, i.e. what prevents someone in the States from going to the store, buying the game, then mailing it to someone in England? It might be a great Christmas gift....

I see. Well, the game comes in an amaray DVD case here. I got a short, thick manual and reference card. Onthe back it says "European version - not for sale in north america or canada, this game will not install on na/c systems."
When looking at games in the US, I have seen the reverse of this statement. To my knowledge, I don't know if this is true - and can't see how they can differentiate- OS system setting?!
It could be done regardless, you'd just have to get the right patches in the future. No special edition available here though.

Thanks, Gruntboy. This is what I was afraid of. Oh, well....
