just ran thru a session in spell hold, and had some fun testing out new cheese....on smarter mages, no less...hehehehheh

wish spell exploit...some of you who are cheese affectionados remember one of the very first...casting the blue cleric spell resist magic on dragons,....this sets the dragon's magic resistance to 40%, which is all the spell can give you, thus your spells have a much better chance than with the normal 60% magic resistance a dragon typically has...naturally this is one of the first cheeses to get nerfed by smarter dragons component of sola or new tactics mod....but wait!!! wish spell has an option, magic resistance on everybody in map, including party (sets everyones magic resistance to 40%!!!!)...hehehhe...so i cast way out of sightrange in spell hold, and set the magic resistance of a lich and its little skelly helpers...and the ai never turned hostile...so yeah, this does work...cast way out of sight of a dragon, reload the game until you get the right choice, then move in and attack with chain contingency spells...hehheheh....and unless your party cast spells within one screen radius of the smarter dragon or mage, they never respond...note, the skellies did drop magic resistance, but somehow the spell was ineffective on the lich...wonder why??? i think it counts as a first level spell, as even innates have a spell level, so lich immunity...sigh...

ok, smarter mages, specifically smarter liches will cast telly field, if you are one screen radius away from the lich, thus bringing the entire party within reach, and they naturally cast abu or inc cloud...sigh...but spell immunity alteration makes you invulnerable..so it takes a little setup, but the pure comedy value makes it priceless...

have a party of all mage capable npcs...and a sorc pc...

go to a place where out of sight inc cloud casting is possible, the reason for this script...its meant to nerf casting area effect spells from out of sight, like in temple ruins and level 2 of spell hold....

out range of the lich the entire party casts spell immunity alteration, then one designated hitter, the sorc, moves into close range, casts gate, or summon planetar...

the telly field should grab the planetar or demon, and deposit it right among them...hehhehahahhahahhahahhehehehehhh....

while the party waits outside all comfy, and laughs at the demon killing the lich and friends....

on a practical note, if you take keldy along as only non mage in group, using this will only teleport keldy among the lich and buddies, thus he can be prebuffed, and improved hasted ready for a bit of lich slaying....or pre prep sola with chain sunfires, for the skellies, and everyone else casts spell immunity alt....

its a good concept, the telly field to nerf out of sight range casting of area effect spells, but as you can see, it is not

USERPROOF!!!!!!!

hahahhahahah!!!!!!

:D :) :p

I suppose you rest after each battle then?

Casting wish to lower a dragons RM to 40% is the most useless way of using a 9th level spell in my opinion. Why not just go for lower resistance at 5th level?
If the trick is not to make the dragon go hostile why not to buff up before the incounter and then use lower resistance?

i do...thats my usual trick in dragon disposal...hit with spell triggered lower resist and mally, and with in the same round, the chains fire, and it gets hit with enough abus to kill it...

but the point is the smarter dragons and mages ai's have flaws that can be seriously exploited... ;)

Why not use the wish (if you want to) in one of the more magic-heavy group encounters of ToB?

thats exactly what i was thinking...i cntrl q-ed the silver dragon, and remembered hey, it only has 60% magic resist, so what is the big deal?

so,

just before inserting the elemental staffs in lv 2 of watchers keep, set the shapeshifting demon's magic resist to 40%, and let it have a web and inc cloud for company....you naturally wait until it hits ice golem shape....

it would be hard to time with melly, but should be possible, and it would be killer for ascention...makes a sorc really really useful....

but what do you guys think of the telly field cheese???

i am saving testing that one, hehehhehe, until my run thru with the new flirt packs...but the image of a lich casting telly field, and getting a pit fiend in its lap is completely priceless...

"who is there? i know you adventurer tricks, you think you can cast a inc cloud out of my sight!!! well, take this!"

pit fiend: gfggggfgrreerrrrrre!!!!!!!!!

lich: aaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!
 :D

You mean to teleport Keldorn into a flock of liches with Teleport Field? Didn't that one only affect your enemies?

hey, xyx....

have you tried smarter mages? a wes mod component of sola, or tactics mod....

remember the layout of the temple ruins?? you have two liches hidden in the small side chambers, one in corridor and one next to lava field, and a fav trick was to cast a inc cloud or meteor storm right thru the opening, so they come out fried..

with smarter mages, liches detect when someone casts a spell on the same map within one screen radius of the lich, so IT, the lich casts a telly field that teleports all your party members, including the weak ones to its location...

really annoying, this cheese is to prevent THEM from pulling that sorta junk on you....

i may be screwed....i just installed mod 50, which changes the level cap of most spells to level 50, so you can cast 50 dice fireballs, AND smarter mages...hehehehhe....

give bun bun 9 and 10 a real workout...
