Here's My Party.. help?

Post by Aranan »

Okay, I just got this game and decided to get a little feedback on my potential group and hopefully get some advice.

Tank:
Standard Dwarven Fighter4/BarbX (Starting as Fighter and alternating until I get weapon spec. in Greatswords)

Human Sorcerer (Leaning toward offensive spells and diplomatic type skills)

Half Orc OR Human Cleric [Tempus] (I'm not sure on which deity to pick, I want the cleric to compliment my party well.. suggestions?)

Halfling Fighter2/Ranger1/Barb1/RogueX (Using the 2 fighter levels to quickly get my Rogue special feats (character level 11 and 12). Ranger for dual wielding my daggers {super sneak attacks) and barbarian.. um.. extra speed I guess?)

I'm trying to just have a party of 4, but I also want to fit in a specialist archer somewhere.. would that just not work out in a 4 person party?

u might consider aasimar cleric for the bonus wis for extra spells, although the ecl might be bad. tempus and talos are the more combat-oriented deities. ur tank and sorcerer are good. but ur rogue might be better off without the barbarian class. u'll want to increase ur thief skills quick. u don't really need an archer, but the rogue could double up as an archer when his health gets low.

I wouldn't suggest a half-orc cleric. They get a -2 to Charisma, which is figured in when they're turning undead. I think you're on course with a human, since the extra feat is always welcome, and no other racial choice really offers as much for that profession.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

very similar to a group i'm running, i added a level of paladin to the sorc and used her as an archer support in the early game, and a pure nuker later.

i like tempus for a single class cleric. lathander, illmater are also good choices.

the halfling looks interesting, but quite good at the same time.

my group had some trouble in the very begining, but after that it really came into it's own.

once my xp fell off the chart (avg level vs challenge rating) i added a few lv 1 idiots into the mix.

I actually tweaked the group a little and started over. Here's the current lineup:

Human Sorcerer
Dwarf Fighter4/BarbX
Half Orc Cleric [Illmater]
Halfling Fighter[a few]/RogueX

The rogue is going to serve as my archer in the group by taking all the archery feats and stuff. The fighter levels will help me nab some extra feats and depending on how often my rogue sneak attacks, I might get some of those "rogue 10+" feats.

Cleric is a half orc. He's got 12 charisma, so he'll be okay turning undead.. I like smashing stuff more anyway.

The fighter/barb will.. you know.. get hit. A lot. And hit back real hard.

Sorcerer is my artillery. He'll rain down firey death upon his foes and all that fun stuff, as well as use the charisma based skills, spellcraft, knowledge arcana and alchemy.

pretty tight looking group.

remember a sorc only needs spellcraft as a prereq for some spell feats, after 10 points or so it has no benefit.

Yeah, I'm just taking spellcraft until the feast become available. Then I'll switch to something else. My sorc has 18 int, so that'll help :)
