Vampire as racial enemy...or demons, or golems.
You should duel at either level 9 or 13.

If SoA is all you have, take vampires and dual at level 9.
If you do have ToB, definitely take demons and definitely dual at level 13.

My suggestion is to dual straight away if you play SoA only and play multi if you have ToB.

If you dual prior to getting your first 'Druid' spell, you do not get both Druid and Cleric spells. It's up to you if you want that extra cheese or not.

Actually you get them anyway.

That's the way it
should work. In fact, the way it should work anyway is that a ranger-cleric multi can only learn up to the 3rd level in druid spells. For the dual-class to receive this benefit, the ranger would have to wait until level 12 before he dualled.'
The Infinity Engine "bug", however, not only allows a ranger/cleric to learn all druid spells, but also allows a ranger dualled out at level 7 to learn druid spells anyway.

Hmmm. I don't remember what patchs/mods I had when I tried the Dual Ranger/Cleric, but when I dualed at level 7, I didn't get the druid spells, even after reactivation. Once I discovered that, I tried again at level 9, and I received them that time.
Either my memory is faulty (what was I talking about again?) or this must depend on what you have installed. One thing I do remember is I only had SoA at the time.
Sorry for any misunderstanding.

You forgot that it could be my memory that is faulty

Another Dual Class Question
I have a level 10 swashbuckler(Just out of Irenicuse's Dungeon), and want to dual him to a mage. At what level should I do this? I am playing an evil with Vic, Korgan, and Edwin if it makes a difference.
Also what theif skills do people find most useful on a swashbuckler?

That is the character I am currently playing with, the swash/mage that is. I LOVE IT! Big time. I am soloing by the way but it would work perfectly in the evil group.
IMO the best time to dual is at level 10. You just got another plus one to thac0 and damage and minus one to AC and you only need 375000 xp to get to level 11 mage. Your thac0 will be good by the end of the game, and you will deal enough damage and you will play as swashmage for most of the game... unlike some of the level 20 duals you see on this board.
I spent my thieving skills on find/disarm traps, open locks and detect illusion. 95 in open locks, 105 in find traps and 100 in detect illusion. Works well for me.
I would recommend to stop leveling your mage after level 5 or 6 until you get to 375 000 XP... that way you'll put that second mage prof. slot to better use.
Have fun!

I just confirmed that you get druid spells whenever you dual.
With a level 7 ranger dualed to cleric you get the druid spells when you reach level 8 as a cleric.

Yeah, swashbuckler/mage is great. Dual at 10, like Bruce Lee said, seeing as you have no backstab multiplier to shoot for. Put points into abilities in the following order of importance: disarm traps, open locks, dispel illusions, hide in shadows/move silently (this is last since you won't be backstabbing).
