Fixing sunfire, new cheese, and new info for xyx spell guide...

well, i am on a roll this week...must be all the stuff i am studying makes me more creative....

now sunfire is a wonderful spell, and with wes spell 50, a thing of incredible fear...a 40d 6 blast of fire that totally ignores magic resistance??? whoo hoo....

but if i had a complaint, it is too low a level, its a level 5 spell, so liches are immune to it...sigh...

but it does spell distrupt them, and blows away their skelly and mummy friends...

then i had a thought...remember my overlapping sunfire area of doom cheese?

have many mages close together surround a dragon, non red, and as long as you remove any spell speed enhancers, like robe of veccy, if you pause, click on each mage, unload triggered sunfire triple on self, and unpause only after all the mages are casting the spell on the same game time instant, each mage is protected from each others sunfires by the spell itself, which makes you immune to fire...

so sunfire is actually a fireball cast on self, with the spell itself making you immune to fire for about 3 real time seconds....

so i came up with something even nastier...the new improved LICHKILLING sunfire...

chain contingency, sunfire, delay blast fireball, delay blast fireball!!!!

the first sunfire protects you from the two delay blast fireballs!!!

and delay blast fireballs are level 7, and liches are not immune to them!!!

this would be great for tactics mod, the kangy guards have 2 liches, and the new lich in the docks....blast them into paste!!!

i was testing this with immie, and using my 110 percent magic resistant bun bun, and found out delay blast fireball also bypasses magic resistance!!! i got no magic resist messages under full feedback.....

wow, i wonder now if sunfire is just immunity from fire and a delay blast fireball cast at you...anyway, even more reason to love delay blast, and i dont recall xyx guide saying anything about it bypassing magic resistance...

its been tested, and it so rocks...love the cheesey aspects of the spell, dont leave home without it.... :D

Now that is a good one user. I like it! Will test it shortly!!
I haven't beaten the liches in SoA yet with my swashbuckler/mage but I will do when I get back from the underdark...using this tactic hehe.

be careful, tho...smarter liches, if you installed the full tactics package their scripts cast prot from elements first....try

remove, sunfire and delay....

and after the first one triggers, try

sunfire delay delay to do a good job of lich extermination!!!

dont you love chain contingency lack of acuity?? casts instantly...hehheheheh

i will admit, tho, except for specific lich extermination, i wont use it as much as sunfire, the original, which is a wonderful spell with spell 50...

15 d 6 delay blast fireball just is not as fun as

40 d 6 sunfire with spell 50.....

and since i think i have just come up with the perfect blend of offensive weapons and spell casting fun party, bun bun rides again.....hacked party, of course...

bun bun 9, the self use version with only 78% magic resistance.,...

sola, kensai mage

aerie, conjuror mage,

edwin sorc after nether scrolls quest...if you sk him to sorc before the quest finishes, he has stutter problems..sigh...

imoen wildmage thief

vixen, cleric of talos...

5 mages, all fairly powerful, so almost entire party can cast sunfire, and viccy as cleric of talos, can cast storm shield....

so in a nasty battle, i can have pc shed robe of vecna, or just quick cast spell immunity evocation, and have viccy cast storm shield, and the entire party explodes in 4-5 spell triggered sunfires in the same instant....approx 400 d 6 damage to anybody who annoys me...who needs fighters???

two spell triggered sunfire mages, one 40 level and one 30th level killed shadow dragon instantly...crispy fried him...

"Now that is a good one user. I like it! Will test it shortly!!

bruce, have you read my other post, the one about spoofing the smarter mages? most of the major liches in soa can be spoofed with cheese tactics...the new lich in the docks can be killed very easily by having a fighter with imp haste and azuredge rush in, whack the lich before it has a chance to raise physical protections...

the lich in ust natha can be insta killed the same way...

sometimes sheer overpowering magical and spell overkill is not the most elegant solution, brute force is....

oh my god, did i just say that???!!!

Sorry for asking but...
Looks like you have 40-level multi and/or dual-class mages in a six characters party... how is it possible?
I thought that level 40+ was soloers-only stuff! ;) :p :D

blatent cheater am i....

i enjoy cheesing battles, since my first run thru about a year ago, i no longer play the game without cheating, my enjoyment comes from finding cheesy tactics and enjoying relationship mods, so i cheat a lot...

but even with uber characters, spell 50, and smarter mages makes battles fun, not in the normal way, but i try to figure out ways that my uber characters do not have to duke it out, but exploit the situation...

heck, serje, you knew i was a stinky cheater.....

heck, if ever i wanted to play a normal solo game, i could no problem, but i love the npc interactions, and i love finding out new cheese, and i get very impatient with all the normal stuff, and anyway i know all the xp exploits in the game, saradush walls, infinite prismatic spray scrolls, and of course the gold exploits, so why even bother spending 3 hours raising my characters normally? too boring and too tempting...and i still do enjoy the game as a exploration of tactical analysis and cheese...hehehehh

Yes I knew... ;)
But until now I was thinking it was all about character creation/editing, I do something similar myself...

Now I got curious... what do you actually do? Start a new game, set everybody's XP to 3'000'000, then go for chapter 2? :)

(Uhm, maybe I should try that too... I like high level characters and the game has that annoying tendence to end when you finally get to these levels...)

you tempter.... bad,bad user... leading me on the path of corruption...

far, far worse...

most of my npcs are multi class, more cheese....hehehehhehe....

so jahiera, sola and aerie all get around 16 million....

actually in the case of sola and jahiera, its to completely control and pre arrange the greater whirlwinds and warrior special abilities, can you say g deathblow...hehhehehhe......and maxing out the fighter half of the multi, so i can give them grandmastery in chosen weapons....

and it allows for stable configurations of kensai mage and totemic/shapeshifter/kensai druid fighter jahiera.....

and aerie can turn demi liches...hehehehhe.....

yeah, i completely agree about by the time i max out my npcs normally end of game....even with saradush walls exploit, it takes forever, and when i play a game, i like to play the game, not stick a bunch of npcs on the wall of saradush shooting arrows and bullets for 9 hours!!!!!!!!!!!

"you tempter.... bad,bad user... leading me on the path of corruption..."

aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......................

my work is done...hehheheheh

some more thoughts about sunfire...

ok, one of the important lessons you learn from the spell guide is you are always vulnerable to your own spells of indiscriminate mass destruction, so while inc cloud is fun, you have to spend some time in prepping your party, and its annoying to have each and every party member have prot from energy and elements cast on them if you plan to use it a lot on the next encounter...sigh...

but spell immunity evo is all you need if your party is mage heavy and tends to have a lot of sunfires memorized...do you see why? if your mages use spells of mass destruction, the caster is often in danger of getting fried by the fire ball he just tossed, but with sunfire, the caster is never in danger from his own spells...like abu dahzim, but the rest of party is in danger....but to the rest of the party, the sunfire that just ignited in their midst is a spell not cast by themselves, so spell immunity evo will protect them, just one spell, and not too time consuming if you are ambushed...and like i outlined, there is even a way to do without spell immunity evo in a pinch....

sunfire is such a good spell..
