TDD...help me

Okay, this game is hard. There are lots of new enemies in TDD, and I notice this simply from trying to get out of Jonny's little underground sugar shack. I keep getting the crap kicked out of me by bugbears (who carry no weapons except longbows, with which they are deadsly with). These guys won't even switch to using their claws when I'm in their face, they just keep shooting and dealing a crazy amount of damage. So anyway, I go through the entire dungeon with all my characters near death (keeping them barely alive with potions and spells, and yes, i even rested). I had to reload several times; first because of the bugbears, then the surprise wraith, then the ogres followed by the Ettin at the end (an Ettin...what were they thinking?). Anyway, does anyone have tips for me to get through this hellhole a little bit easier? I'm thinking I'll just rest more. Also, what would be some good NPCs to have in the group? My old Soa party of my PC fighter or paladin along with Minsc, Jaheira, Yoshimo (later Imoen), and Aerie really isn't cutting it anymore. Should I go so far as to have six people? Thanx in advance. This game rules.

Once you get out of Jon's dungeon, things aren't quite as tough.

I would reccomend getting Viconia since there is a special plot twist involving her.

Also, her romance works better in TDD since there is a cleric spell that changes anyones alignment to LG, which means she won't leave the party due to high reputation. She can even cast it on herself! (However, her dialogues still have that Nietschean slant so the conversion is on paper only. Purists may find this problematic.)

I would leave one or two slots open to try out the new NPCs (and some old ones from BG1) that can join your party. They are nothing special, but you may as well get the total experience of TDD.
