Altar (spoilerish)

I did some stupid stuff and now I'm in trouble.
In chapter 2, in the Ice Temple, there's the entity on the altar. Now, I know I'm supposed to call it by it's true name (Caged Fury), but there's no such option in the dialogue. Which might have something to do with the fact that I uh, sort of killed the Abishai on the first level.
In other words, there's no-one left to give me Altar-guy's true name, so it won't come up in the dialoguewindow.
Is it an option to just attack Caged Fury-guy? Are there any other options to solve this? I don't have any saved games prior to this mess.
