anyone tried a pc thief with full pickpocket

Post by Wallace »

is this a fun thing to do?
can you get lots of stolen stuff?
at what skill point level will the pickpocket succeed nearly all the time?

does aproaching from behind/being invisible/hiding in shadows better your chances?

Fun? Sure, unless you fail and haven't pressed Q before...

You need 100 points to succed nearly all the time (no matter how high you take it there's always a 1% chance of failing). Stealing from certain shops throughout the game can be quite rewarding yes, but, there's nothing you won't be able to buy in the later stages.

Don't know but I don't think so.

I reckon that Stonehege was build by the contemporary equivalent of Microsoft, whereas Avebury was definitely an Apple circle.

It'll get fairly boring after a while unless you never get tired of stealing single gold pieces off of little children and bums. There are few wothwhile things to be had by stealing, and nothing that you could not buy eventually, with the possible exception of the Ring of Regeneration on Ribald.

You need 100% to succeed almost all the time in normal pickpocketing. You may need 180+ for pickpocketing from certain stores.

I think you needed 160 to get the ring of regeneration from Ribald.

Yes, but if you're good enough at pickpocketing you can get 2 rings of Gaxx...

for me the most important potion is not healing or extra healing potions. it is potion of master thievies. with a couple or 3 potions, even my nalia never failed pickpocketing or stealing from anybody, don't mention with yoshimos or imeon(i never used jan). so it is a tip for you guys like pickpocket but hate reloading

100 points doesnt mean that you will succeed 100% of the time as there are certain modifiers that reduce your chances, such as wearing armour reduces it (by about 20 or 30% IIRC) other things affect it as well, would be a laugh though, the max for the stat is 250

Exept early in the game (when you can find a lot of good things like potins of healing, identify scrolls....) pickpocket is nearly useless due to the large amoune of coins you'll be able to get in the game. It would be cool to have some items you can only gain by pickpocketing a character at high pickpocket lvl.

Edwin is right, about the value in early stages. IE-those amnish soldiers carry some nice scrolls. it is worth noting that multiple potions of master thievery are cumulative or "stack effect", and have excellent duration. if you have jansen quoff several, you can earn plenty-that "roger the fence" in the sewer under temple will allow you to sell +1 gear, steal it back, [and resell!] very easily.

true, but u can steal the ring of ram, which does 5 to 30 damage per day to an enemy. and you can steal an extra ring of gaxx(sp?)
and in the early stages, you could have a party that already has -AC and that's pretty good and tonnes of scrolls that you'll never need to buy any and lots of restoration scrolls, which are pretty expansive in early game
