Another question for 3rd ed. rules that I don't rightly know? Is there bonuses or penalties for fighting with missile weapons at close range? That is when another enemy is engaging in melee and the P.C. is using a missile weapon. I know their was for Baldur's Gate.

Just want to remind everybody what a good job their doing and this is really a cool forum, thanks guys, gals?

Yes, there is a -8 penalty (quite a lot) when close fighting with ranged weapons, reduced to -4 if you chose the precise shot feat. But in any case when your archer is in melee you can change your bow to melee weapons, like small swords if you took advantage of the weapon finesse feat (which allows you to calculate the attack value with the dexterity bonuses and not with strength, but only with light weapons, and as it is an archer I am sure you allocated maximum ability points in Dexterity). Then when the monster is defeated, you get at appropriate distance from the main battle and use the bow again.
