If you read a couple days' back postings, you'll find someone who thought he was too wimpy! Of course, he was putting Keldorn with no armour and no Carsomyr into a melee-only battle. Keldorn is very good at what he was designed to do: deal with hostile spellcasters...that speed 1, double-level Dispel Magic can't be touched by any other character, and his True Sight is speed factor 1 as well. Put him in a standard hack'n'slash and he's good...as long as he's wielding Carsomyr, but not so hot without it. I would imagine it balances out as the other warriors are going to outperform him in non-magical battles. Besides, if your protagonist is a paladin, will you give Carsomyr to Keldorn? :) (if you even have him along, of course.)

yes, the inquisitor rocks vs mages. likewise the undead hunter stomps through bohdi's lair. (without any silly mace or amulet) the cav. is pretty good vs dragons & demons. so it's balanced vs the other kits. imo.

keldorn sometimes gets a bad rap for some of his low stats & his wpn prof's are not maxed out the way most people would choose.

In addition to Carsomyr, Keldorn needs the gauntlets of dex and a giant girdle to get his strength and dex up to high enough levels for tough melee fights. After that, I really don't think any other NPC can compare for sheer power, except maybe Edwin.

Before getting Carsomyr and the str/dex items, he accounted for something like 5% of the kills in a six-person party. After, he killed 40%.

The question is whether you can actually spare those items given your party makeup. A few other characters (Jahiera particularly) need strength or dex bonuses to be very useful, and there are only so many items to do the job. Even with just Carsomyr I think he's worth having for a good-aligned party, but I wouldn't count on him as my main tank.

I definitely agree the Inquisitor is an amazing kit. True Sight is *so* nice in that it frees up mage spells for something more useful.

I've used Keldorn in most of my games as one of my main tanks, and he does just fine without a girdle of giant strength. For those tough battles, I have him drink one of those potions of giant strength that are scattered all over the game.
