Why oh Why aren't there any good bastard swords in BG2 while it isn't included in the longsword class anymore like in BG1?
'The best bastard sword is +2 or something.............
There is a good bastard sword in ToB, but it can only be used by paladins (and what paladin doesn't us Carsomyr?)

What swords do you mean?
I can't remeber a single bastard sword that was worth it, except the one for paladins.
Type it in black or pm them to me if you don't mind

Foebane is just the best sword in the game...
Jhor The Bleeder in SoA is a very cool weapon even though it only hits as +2. The additional "bleeding" dmg stacks up very fast though.

Yes, Foebane is great, especially after you've upgraded it to +5. The upgraded +5 Purifier's fine, too, but they're ToB bastard swords. It's almost like asking a person to develop skills in one game that will suit them in a second.

If you have TOB I think you can buy +3 bastard swords in watcher's keep...and you can defenetaly find some inside it, thi smaking them accecable early in the game if you feel up to the challange of doing a couple of level of The watcher's keep

I agree, Foebane +5 is the best sword in the game.
Jhor the bleeder is a very good sword and blade of searing is not so bad for SoA.

Blade of Searing? 1 point of fire per successful attack, as I recall: not bad, but not very good in comparison with some of the longswords in SoA. Just my POV.

"bastard swords...why they call them bastard swords...no parents???''
foe bane will also punch right thru stoneskin with the laroc minor drain, spell disrupting a mage....
but yeah, foebane with dual crom makes demon whacking fun again....and there are a lot, lot, lot of demons in tob, especially if you install ascention...boy, are there a lot of demons....
"demons, i hate demons...."
purifier is a great weapon, unlike holy avenger, it does not set the magic resistance, it simply adds to it, so a thief fighter with use any item, and purifier does not have to do the reload, then unequipp reequipp items a pally does to get all the magic resistance his equippment gives him....sigh...
plus with it as off hand weapon, allows you to use axe of unyielding and still keep the bonuses....
bastard swords are like axes, you kinda have to wait until tob to get the most benefit out of them....axe of unyielding and crom...many many bodies strewn everywhere....

Will the Larloch's Minor Drain also punch through Mantle-like spells? I imagine it would since it actually casts the spell with each hit rather than just add the effect.

Since Foebane +5 is enchanted to hit plus 5 it will hit through mantle... it wont hit through prot from magical weapons though. The good thing about this sword is that with a high number of attacks you almost unkillable since it heals you with 4 hps per hit.

Yeah, I meant all sorts of spells that protects you from a certain range of weapons when I said Mantle-spells. So sword wont cast Larloch if it can't hit the target?

Nope.

I've always imagined the first blacksmith to forge one saying "Man, that sword is one huge bastard!"
