killing Ordinators problem

Post by speedball »

I've recently come back to the game, and am having a problem that I've never had before. I don't have Tribunal and am using the latest patch, BTW.

In the past (before patching) I was able to taunt Ordinators into attacking me so I could kill them and take their stuff without being fined, just like most everyone has done.

Now, I can taunt them into attacking me, but as soon as I strike back, they automatically talk to me and give me the option to pay the fine, go to jail, or resist arrest. I'm even sure to give them a few free hits before I fight back. I'm pretty sure in the past this didn't happen. While the fine isn't huge, I don't want to have to go to the Thieves Guild after each one.

I looked at the documentation for the latest patch, and didn't see anything about this. Any thoughts?

Hmm, that's very odd...I don't have much advice to give you, except that I heard that if you drop all your money before talking to the Thieves' Guild, they'll take the price off your head for free because you don't have any money...I haven't had a chance to test it yet, though - I'm a good boy. OK, so I can't fool you. I just don't get caught ;)

I'd suggest going over and braving the official forums, where there are developers and scripters who might be able to help you.

I actually found a work-around for this last night.

I taunt, let him whack me a couple of times, then use my constant effect levitation amulet to get above him so he can't talk to me. Then, I just plug him with arrows until he dies. No bounty. :D

Thanks for the advice though.

That has happened to me before too!

I attacked him before he finished decking out his first sissy fire spell, so waiting after that first spell works for me, probably a different problem, but it works.
