I haven't been to chapter three yet, but I would like a little spoiler information. What kind of items can I have crafted in chapter 3? Anything good for a wizard? What kind of items do I need to be saving (dragon blood and adamantium I know of). Thanks guys.

The kind of items you need to save are quite obvious, I found. Things that come from rare animals often, and things that don't have any other clear purpose, and that sell for 1GP. Particularly if it's some part of a creature's body that a creature of that species always drops when it dies. Ettercap silk glands, Fenberries, Fire Beetle bellies, Skeleton knuckles, Gargoyle skulls, Rakshasa eyes, Special Holy Water, IronWood. There are plenty of walkthroughs and game guides that list the things on various sites. Unfortunately, I didn't find the items of much use. I don't think I was ever able to make an item that I hadn't already found or seen for sale in a shop. There is a ring on protection +3, but by that stage I already had several of +3 or better. There is an amulet of natural armour +5, which would be useful if you didn't already have one. Boots of the Gargoyle aren't bad, but I already had a couple of pairs of those plus a couple of better pairs I think ;)

I agree that all "crafted" items are useless but I'd also like to add that in my playguide, it lists a variety of nifty items that I've never found after playing the entire game 3 times. Two examples are the Taralesh bow (Haste, Attack +4, Mighty +4 and Spot +4) and the Grey Robe of Archmagi (AC +5, Spell Penetration, all saves +1 and 10 spell resistance).

To me, though, the most irritating thing was that the loot didn't coincide with the battle just fought. You've just lost your henchman, your familiar and a couple of summoned creatures and barely escaped with your own life and what do you get? A freakin' piece of flourspar, whatever the hell that is !! In general, the only reason to even open any of the chests is that it's the ONLY way to accumulate any money.

Hehe, I usually save before opening the chests. Then if I dont like the item I get in the chest, I reload the game, open it again, and get a different item. Sometimes it helps :p

Sorry, it's not a link; it's a book that I ordered along with the game. It's really not that different from the info here on GameBanshee.
