Firkraag, I feel cheap

Just killed (Improved) Firkraag on Insane with my six player party at about 2.5 mil exp each (I picked up Imoen before doing the majority of the Chap 2 quests). Summoned two fire elementals, two bears and a skeleton warrior, threw up every spell buff my party had available, used Mass invisibility and surrounded him. Then, and this all happened at the same time, I had my PC Archer use Ring of Ram and then pummel him with his 7 APR Gesen bolts, Imoen threw a Chain Lightning at Firkraag, the 9 melee fighters I had surrounded him with all dug into his body simultaneously. Firkraag healed almost immediately so Ring of Ram and Chain lightning was useless, still he died before the guys he blew away with Wing Buffet had even returned to him. Out of the 4 fighters that were left in his melee range, he chose to attack Jaheira, who was quite safe with her Iron skins on. Afterwards I kind of felt "so that was it?". I suppose it is supposed to be a tad easier when your guys range from clvl 13-16 instead of 9-11, still I did not think Firkraag himself would fall so quickly to strategies completely lacking cheese. Even had more problems with the Shadow dragon employing the same strategy.
Used the following people btw
PC Archer
Minsc
Jaheira
Keldorn
Valygar
Imoen
Still looking forward to Improved Irenicus, that should prove one mighty challenge.

Well, Imp Firkaag is not supposed to be a "special" battle... it's just the old Firkaag a little smarter, am I correct?
Improved Irenicus is another matter entirely. He becomes a party of five!
(Now that I think of it, why dragons never cast Simulacrums or Mislead? It would be damn funny to have two or three dragons on screen, for a change...)

A little smarter, yes. But you know, improved or not, he's still supposed to be one of the most difficult monsters in SoA.
Two or three dragons on screen would lag like hell, I had 4 dragons on screen once, when I still had that bug that created a duplicate of a monster if you left the map. Locked the game up completely I can say.

My computer slows down with just one dragon on screen. It aint that bad though, kind of a slow motion effect in action movies hehe.
I have always found ranged weapons to be the way to go against dragons with their wing buffet.

Hey User. Spell 50 only means that spells progress till level 50 right? Well most enemies are below level 20 so it doesn't make it much harder right? Or what am I missing??

Spell 50 pulls the die-cap off many spells' damage, allowing them to do mad damage at high levels. Even at lv 20, you get some serious kablooeys.

liches, for example, tend to be around level 30, i think....and a abu by one of those guys will kill the entire party, so protection is very important,....and i also play with smarter mages.....
tho i have found their fatal flaw and weaknesses....
