Good party

Okay this may only interest a few but since it interests me I'll post it hehe.
I was experimenting with party composition when I came up with this idea:
A pre created party of six. First three party members...ranger/dualed to cleric at level 7, blade, swashie dualed to mage at level 10. Three tanks, one thief, one with all cleric and druid spells and 1½ mage and someone who can identify everything.
Then add three archers! Now you have three front tanks that all have stoneskin up to soak up the hits and the archers can fire away without being attacked. I have started a party like this and it works extremely well. Try it if you like pre created parties.

3 archers? Wow, a bit overkill. I'd probably get bored with such a party...

One archer is good enough. I'd replace one of the archers with a stalker so that you have a backstabber and a great scout, and the other archer with an inquisitor.

Hmm:

1) Inquisitor
2) Archer
3) Stalker
4) Blade
5) Swashbuckler-10/Mage
6) Ranger-13/Cleric (I prefer 13, your results may vary)

Damn, now that is a good party...

Yeah that is a good party also, but the thing I like here is that no one takes damage. The frontliners can cast protective spells and damage is dealt from behind, very effective!

A party of 6 archers, thieves, fighters, monks, bards and mages have all been tried before, IIRC.

It's loads of fun when you are just killing everything in sight, though some might get bored halfway through.

Enjoy!

6 monks?
That should be boring, you can't use half of the items you find.
Maybe something to try 6druids, or clerics.

In a multiplayer game, you can create all characters yourself.
And play them all on you're own

So you go in the game options and enlarge it as it requires ;)
Works :)

@Bruce Lee: did you choose Archers from the Ranger Kits or the new Weimer's one from the Warrior Kits?
What's better in your opinion?
I find that a "Generic Archer" dualled to mage at, say, level 12 could be a real killer.
I'm not sure if the bonuses would work with Minute Meteors, but I'm experimenting... I'd say that they *should* work, at least.

I am playing with my first custom party right now

Human Inquisitor 15
Human Ranger 13 / Cleric 11 (still waiting...)
Human Monk 16
Gnome Fighter 12 / Illusionist 13
Human Swashbuckler 10 / Mage 15
Human Sorcerer 16

It was slightly difficult at the beggining, when I had no thief to disarm or lockpick (and I did not want to lose on the XP provided by that) and the monk was still the weak-link of the party. The ranger dualed as soon as he was not needed as main fighter (when the monk finnaly got to business and the F/M got Protection from Magical Weapons). Once the ranger gets back, I'll have:

3 superb melee fighters (ranger/cleric, f/m, monk)
2 back-up melee fighters / average ranged support (Inquisitor and the Swashbuckler/Mage, with crossbow and bows)
2 mage killers (inquisitor, monk)
2 undead killers (inquisitor, ranger/cleric)
2 all purpose mages
1 mage specialized in damage dealing (sorcerer)
1 cleric
1 thief

I just got to Spellhold and am close to 2200000 xp each. I plan to stop levelling up once I reach 2950000 xp to try to face Improved Bodhi & Irenicus without HLAs for the first time... if this party keeps performing as well as it is now, hopefully it will be only... insanely hard? :D

I should try that, I never got around to it before. I had a perfect idea, I'll have to remember it.

(as you would have to do if you were making a ranger/cleric, or some other combo not normally allowed).

It is indeed allowed... you just have to have enough Wisdom. And it`s very effective!

I was thinking so myself.
I read somewhere that a Beastmaster (ranger kit) could dual to cleric, anyway.
Why someone would want to do that combo escapes me... Maybe for the familiar?

@Uncle ... are you planning some ranger-gnome?
