Ok - what's the deal with these silly boots?!

I've had them for a while now and don't understand how I can use them. They make you blind. What's the point of that, then, even if you can walk very fast???

Think from the devs' point of view, anticipating players who scream, "Who cares about your beautiful plants? I just wanna get to the next battle, solve the next quest, and WIN!" So what does the Bethesda team do? We can speculate: "Sure, sport," they cackle at midnight. "Here's a pair of boots that will set you on your way. And since you really don't want to look at all the great stuff we spent years developing, we'll just turn that off for you while you zip along."

Personally, I find that artifact hilarious. :D

One thing that Bretons (and Orcs in lesser degree) can use them with great profit even without any precautions (the picture in daylight is still tolerable although darker). If you remeber racial bonuses of Bretons it includes 50% resistance to Magicka. Guessing already? :cool: Or i have to hint also that the effect works in the very moment the boots are being put on... ;) Stright spoiler follows:

BTW, IMHO the best use of subj. is for flying. Suppose you have a spell or and item giving you Levitate 1 pt for considerable long time (every levitation point is very expensive in magicka points while duration is relatively cheap). You put on the boots and your speed increases considerable. If you're attacked, just remove the boots and fight (or make yourself invisible if you do not mind) ...

Thanks for the replies but my character is a Nord. Can I make much use of these boots or shall I just sell them?!

Thats pretty much what I did. But if you can get you magic resist up somehow, it will be worth keeping.

Have i been too fast? :D
Consider those things:
1) the CE enchantment works at the very moment you're putting the thing on and is removed as soon as you get it off;
2) Resist Magicka works only against harming (blinding in this case) effect in Morrowind; Fortify Speed is not counted as harming and as such is not resisted;
3) the same effect from different items does stack and it is neither too hard nor too expensive to create 2-3 items giving in total 100% resistance to Magicka for 3-5 seconds (quite enough to put the boots on, isnt't it?). For most times of day and weather even 50% is pretty enough, i'm going for more comfort, though, so i'm getting to 100%.

P.S. The Light and Night Eye can bee used as well, of course, altogether it seems to me a bit too "exploiterish".

@Tybaltus:

Even if you are blind, you can always watch the small map in the lower right hand corner and follow the path.

It's what I do for now (early in game) until I can make/find some Magic resistance items.
