How do you back out of a quest? I have a fighter based character and cannot get the code book in an early quest. I tried antagonizing the character to get her to fight (based on another thread I did review) and she would not do so. I then joined the Thieve's Guild (also due to reviewing a thread here) and trained my Stealth up to 10 (all I could afford). I can't hide in front of ANYBODY , so I took a quest from the Thieve's Guild to get more money. Had to steal a diamond...but can't steal it without getting caught and put in jail.

Kind of stuck...2 mini-quests (jobs) and I can't complete either. How do I back out of these jobs with the guild leaders? Or, any other advise to get thru them?

Just leave them be for now. You can get other fighter and thieves quests from other guild halls.... theres one of each in ald'ruhn. Then just come back to the ones you have problems with later.

No; you only have to leave town if you want a quest other than the two you've been given, and you've decided against joining additional guilds that might be present.
