Solution for those with 3D acceleration issues in NT/2K/XP

Some of you have had problems enabling 3D acceleration under NT/2K/XP. When you turned it on and then ran the test, you found you had a grey box off centre. I've had the same thing, but now I think I have a solution for you.
In the Baldur.ini file there is a setting called Display Frequency. Simply set this to the refresh rate you monitor wishes to use at the resolution you wish to play at. I use a tool called NVRefreshTool to set my refresh rates under XP since the OS seems to do a crap job of this itself.
The default value for Display Frequency is 60, but at 1024x768 (the setting I use in-game) my monitor is configured for a refresh rate of 85Hz. I changed the Display Frequency value to 85 and now the test worked for me. I changed it back to 60, and the test failed as it used to.
Give this a whirl, but be sure you know what your refresh rate it.
Incidently, NVRefreshTool (one of the many programs that came out to sort out the refresh rates under NT issues) can be found at http://www.nvrt.org
