What level were you at when you beat the game?

I have just entered Ust Nasha(sp?) and was wondering if being at Level 17(main, created character) was good for this point in the game. I hope it is I am rather sick of doing the side quests.

It kind of depends on what class you are, but I would say 17 is a pretty respectable level. It should be fairly close to the limit for most classes anyway, so you should be okay.

(But really, you're sick of doing side quests? That's the only thing I like doing in BG2. I just don't buy into the whole Bhaal-spawn-saves-the-world...again plot.)

I finished the game at around that level as well. If you're level 17, I think you'd be well equipped to handle Irenicus, with a little help from certain items.

The first time I played the game, I finished it without doing all do the side-quests because I was anxious to see the ending. I had a full party of six. My main character was an Archer. I think she was about 16th Level when the game was over. I didn't use spoilers or cheats, and the game was very hard for me. Some people might say that my game was a "failure" since I hadn't defeated every monster in the game (I never even met Kangaxx or Firkraag), but I did beat Irenicus, so I did "win" the game.

In my second game, I made it a point to do every quest and kill every monster. It wasn't easy, but I did it (or close to it). Again, I had a full party of six, including NPCs who weren't in my party in my first game. After learning in my first game that there's no need to rush the game (for example, the elves can wait for the Lanthorn, and losing your soul is not fatal), I took my sweet time and tried to do as many of the NPC quests as I could. My character was pretty close to the experience cap when I (almost) truly "completed" the game.

If you have several members in your party and they're all around 15th Level when you reach the Underdark, you shouldn't have too many problems. If you're soloing, you might have some difficulty, but then, you'd be used to that by now. :)

My first run through was with a ranger (imported from BG1) who finished at level 18 in a party of 6. I would dare say level 17 is about right. I missed many side quests too without a walk through.

The next attempt was with the cap removed and I ended about level 26/27 with a monk in a party of 4. I did almost every quest.

Honestly, I can't remember. I never pay much attention for some reason. I couldn't even tell you what my party levels are in my current IWD2 game.

I think I got a bad memory. :D

Level 16, A Paladin, full party, all at about levels 15-17. I like to think I'm a superior melee artist then the computer, in the fact I beat it under-strength. Second time through, level 24 (I love ToB) with an elven Ranger.

I dont rightly remember.......but I believe my first time with a plain Ranger I was level 14 or so.........I played with a full party

I missed like half of the questst.....at least the hidden ones........even the Copper Cornet stuff.
So in the end, my final batttle was damn hard. Now Im level 18 or higher at the end all the time with my ARcheR.....I do every quest.....kill every monster....and have the Improved fights and stuff installed (thx Weimer :D )

But most of the time I dont even reach the end......I allways want a new party ( I just cant say goodbey to Minsc and Jaheira :D )

But level 17 when U reach the underdark is a very nice level to begin with....

I finished at 9/16 (human cleric of Helm/mage) with a full party. It was enough, I must say.

I am playing very careful I did virtually every quest before paying the guy the 15,000. Every stronghold, every tiny find a childs teddy bear, every defeat the wimpy spiders for me. Only losing a person once. But that meant paying the little amount for a ressurection. I have 31 million+ coins due to a glitch(a guy payed be 31 million for a Heartseeker bow in the underdark)but even before that I had 131,000.

I discovered my levels was more than enough. I was bored so decided to fight Ust Nasha. I went to the city and immedaitely started hacking drow. With the help of drow armor and swords I killed practically everyone without recieving a literal scratch. I have only 5 people(aerie recently ran due to Korgan's presence) in my party which is really only 4 since Imoen is so useless against drow. The games going to get boring now.
