char min/maxing?

I am not talking about powergaming, though.

I dont want to reduce a char's stats to 1-3, I personally prefer to keep my lowest stats in the 7-9 range so that it is at least "realistic" to me, as realistic as a fantasy-based RP/dungeon romp can be, I guess...

here is the way I see which stats should be highest for each class, everyone please correct me if I am totally off base or if you have a different opinion... (and I will likely use these relative stat scores to determine which skills to give each char, since the skill success is based on a specific stat score, correct?)

barbarian - high str and con

bard - high cha and dex

cleric - high wisdom and cha?

druid - high str and wisdom?

fighter - high str and con

monk - high wisdom and dex

paladin - high str and cha?

ranger - high dex and int?

rogue - high dex and cha/int?

sorc/wizard - high int and dex

is that about right? I suppose you could merge/meld some of them if you plan to dual class or want to eliminate the rogue from your party, and I would think that it all depends on your party composition as well, and their roles... i.e. one fighter may need higher dex to perform rogue-type actions, while a cleric might need a little higher con to serve as a backup tank, or someone might need higher cha to be the party speaker, etc.

thanks for your help and input.

Cha is used for rebuke/destroy undead. So it is pretty much up to how you wish to play him.

paladin - high str and cha?

High cha makes for some ungodly saving throws. But take into account that a paladin need to have good scores in several attributes.

ranger - high dex and int?

Afaik the ranger uses wis for casting spells not int.

rogue - high dex and cha/int?

Really depends on what kind of rogue you want. Scout? Tank?

sorc/wizard - high int and dex

The sorceror uses cha not int.
