Reptation?

Just started playing Icewind Dale I. And I have a question. Somehow, after killing the head gal (snake lady X... something) and coming back into Kuldahar (where there were these cat-like monsters) some townspeople got killed. Now my reputation is down the tubes, and all the townspeople want to attack me.

How do I raise my reputation? I read in the manual that you can go to a temple and donate gold. However the people in the temple want to attack me also.

Do I have to load a previous version of the game and re-kill the snake gal, then come back into town and make sure no townies are killed in the skirmish, or can I do something else. Unfortunately I had already saved the game before I realised what had happened...

Thanks!

What's not clear from your remarks is whether your party actually killed the townspeople. If they did, then I'd suggest you go back to s a saved game before that battle. Of course, I've never trained to wait them out in another area, sleeping for a week or a month to see if memory of the event fades.

That's the problem - I didn't think that my party had killed any townspeople, but everyone was fighting those cat things and the townspeople were all around. I must have if they are all against me now right?

Damn - and it took me a while to kill the snake lady!

Thanks for your help! :)

This happened to me when one of my mages cast an area effect spell that injured a townsperson. Thankfully I had saved beforehand so just reloaded.

The same thing once happened to me with a stray lightning bolt. :D
