Baldurdash remix

I decided to do a clean reinstall of BG2, and thought I'd use the Baldurdash remix using WeiDU instead of the executables up on the Baldurdash site. Thought that since I'm using some WeiDU mods, I might as well keep it all in the family, and avoid possible conflicts.

However, there doesn't appear to be an installer in the Baldurdash remix. If I understand the documentation correctly, it should have an installer, but all you do unzip it (using the folders option) into your BG2 directory, and then tediously move through each subdirectory that's been created, deciding if you want to install it or not; and if so, you have to read the documentation, then move the files into the override subdirectory. That's a good 25 or more mods whose files have to be independently moved.

But like I said, I think I'm doing it wrong. The mod speaks about DOS-based installs. Only thing is, I see no batch or executable file to run in the remix archive that could do the install. I'm using version 1.02. Anybody know what I should do, here? Thanks. :)

There should be an .exe installer that comes along with the Remix download. AFAIK, it should be put in the BG2 SoA directory for it to work. If you are using WinZip, Fable, I recommend that you use the Extract option instead of double clicking on the .exe file. After you have done the extraction, the dos based installer should work.

I think there is a Yes/No dialog box that pops out to prompt you which component you want to install - that can't be avoided. I am using 1.02 as well. The Remix install is almost like the Sola one, where there are many components to be unzipped.

Please let me know how you are doing with it. :)

No executable, oddly enough. I checked in the main BG2 directory, in all the subdirectories that were created after the thing was unzipped, and in the zipfile, itself. Strange.

In any case, I went back and downloaded Baldurdash's own executable fixpack and installed that. Oh, well. Odd.

That's really odd, because in my version the only file in winzip is indeed the executable.
Regardless, you should stick a little while with the regular Baldurdash since a new version of the Remix is about to be released in the next few days...

I'm doing just that. Thanks.

Sorry for popping in here late. But I just started visiting these forums regularly.

Firstly, I'll address the problem you have fable. :)

I'm pretty sure you've downloaded the developer's version by mistake. Try this url for the real deal.

http://www.cs.berkeley.edu/~weimer/bgat ... v1.0.2.zip

And now, some info on v1.0.3.

Version 1.0.3 is in beta right now. I have some people running it through the gauntlet in order to get the most bugfree product out for v1.0.3.

The problem with Remix is it's hard to track down bugs because of the large amount of files included. ;)

Rest assured, v1.0.3 will be released when I feel it's been debugged to the best of my ability. :) (All of the bugs reported thus far have been fixed, and I've added a lot more logic to the installer, so that, even if a user were to pick Happy Group Scripts and Happy Group Scripts (Concurrent Version), it automatically deselects other component)

And, as an aside, anyone else is welcome to beta test Remix if they have the time. Shoot an email to japheth@forgottenwars.net and I'll send you the beta.
