help with planar prison

hey people, I am having a really tough time with the party in the planar prison, especially the mage who's doing the finger of death and power word stun, any tips on how to deal with them would be helpful

can't get past the first group of bounty hunters heh, so not yet.

The thralls will really help. For the rest, I suggest drawing him out, away from his buddies. Be sure to interpose summoned cannon fodder. Lower his resistance, then hit him with Breach, etc. Magic Missiles work well, as I recall.

playing a ftm is not as easy as I thought it would be, if you play him legally, no cap remover. Just wondering, do all of you remove exp cap when you play ftm? Seems like cheatin to me heh, wanted to do it but didn't. About the thralls, I can't get there I get stunned or killed even. I'm wondering, where should I draw the mage bounty hunter away, dont see where. I get stunned before I could actually kill him, either by him or by the other mage bounty hunter who's not as high level. Any idea how to protect against the stun?

This advice probably won't help....but I just tanked the first group, and had my mages cast breach and magic missile to interrupt the caster.

There is a potion that the thief in the sewers sells that makes you pass every save automaticaly. That should deal with the Finger of Death.
There is another potion, if it is not the same one, that gives a bonus MR that may be useful against the Power Word (and also the Finger). The Free Action Ring, if you have it, prevent Stun too.

I just did this yesterday with my solo F/M/T..He had around 2.4M by then, Robe of Vecna. I also have smarter mages installed. Go into the prison hasted, improved invisible, with MMM. There is a Yuan-Ti mage on your left with a bunch of nasty spells and a Yuan-Ti cleric on your right with a Wand of the Heavens. As soon as you can, hit the Mage with Breach. Pummel him with MMM, cast one Ice storm to disrupt spellcasting for 4 rounds, then use sunfire to wipe out the rest. If you're unlucky, you'd have to reload a couple of times. But this should work..

Well, I am. I've also added Sabre's HLA patch for the F/M/T which disables the 8M Xp cap completly. I'm trying to solo Acension with my char, so I need every Xp point I can get. And why not? You earned it. If you think the game is too easy, install the smarter patches and you'll find it way..way..difficult.
Case in Point..yesterday I insalled Kensai Ryu's Imp. Random encounters and was trying to leave Waukeen's promenade. Got jumped by a 14th level mage, a high level Bounty Hunter, 3 pretty good fighters and a shadow druid. I died in 1 round. I reloaded 10 times and got kicked every time. Finally gave up and have stopped going out at night till I have all my buffs up...

...Next time I'll try Web in a Minor Sequencer.. they WILL pay...!

Before you enter the prison cast Mirror Image, Stoneskin, Haste and maybe Blur. I usually have a Contigency that turns me invisible if I become helpless.
I don't remember having too much trouble with this battle. If the above doesn't help, you could try taking a couple potions of invisibility along (or better yet the Staff of the Magi, if you have it). Then just go get a donut and wait for the Yuan-tis protections to wear off. Multiple cloudkills also work well but be careful that the gnome doesn't wander into them.
