Okay, so finaly I'm a cleric, I dunno why, I just am.
Prob is I already finished playing the game as a thief and as a Illusionist and fighter, but in all those games I never used a cleric!
So guys (and galls) please help me out, what is must have equipment, must do quest.
I have an wis. of 18, does it help if I use the tome's or should I give them to my mages.
It's a bit of fun playing again, but I just have the idea that I'm missing out on some action.
Owh, I got Ashienda and Ankheg o'course and the priests ring.

Must get equipment:
Ring +2 spells (don't know the name)
Good armour
Warrhammer +1 elektrical damage (very very good weapon, and the best against the big baddy in the end)
Cool looking helmet (dwarf in beregost)
Must do quests
Eeeeeh, Naskel Mines?!!!
And about the tome, i believe you get some extra spells, but I could be wrong (check the manual), or just try it, and reload.
But why would you're mages want the tome anyway?
And if you miss action, play evil and kill entire villages

Theres a dwarf in beregost (an NPC named Kagain IIRC) who has a very cool looking helmet (that does nothing special)
It's kinda tricky to find his house, the door doesn't show cause of the perspective.

Stilgar, I know of Kagains helmet and you've told me about it for 3 years now.
I just wanna know which stuff a cleric must have....

okok, no joking around,
their are 2 ways to play a cleric as a healer, or as a spell caster.
Always remember that you're cleric isn't you're strongest fighter (although he can kick some ass)
But their aren't much special items for the cleric in the game,
Only the ring for the extra spells.
I only use my clerics for protective spells and healing spells before, and after battle, so in battle I just have him/here melee with a good warhammer.
If you want to use you're cleric as a backup spellcaster, you could consider a sling, slings are pretty good (als see
here), so he/she can stay in the back, and cast some pretty nasty spells.
I hope this helps a bit

Cleric stuff...
As well as what people said above, I'd think you'd want the Ring of Holiness (bonus Cleric spells) also, as well as either the gauntlets of weapon skill or dexterity.
I just played a cleric/fighter main through and that was huge fun, though I only found two of the WIS tomes,

I am a fan of powerhouse clerics:
Gaunts of ogre power for the thaco and damage (or expertise as noted earlier) (fighters have all those potions of strength anyway),
the good weapon and armor hardware that has been noted,
A good shield,
cloak of balduran,
helm of baluran-lower the thaco as well.
Be greedy with those wisdom tomes for your PC...
A mage or bard to get you hasted up is nice.
Cleric spells are often overlooked. In addition to flamestrike (don't forget the wand of the heavens) and summon undead, what could be better in BGI for clerics than the holy hand-grenade glyph of warding and hold person? I just use level one for healing, and go for bad-guy stopping and dropping (in addition to a little cleric buffing like draw on holy might, which is really sweet if you have the ogre gaunts) on all the other levels.
Clerics also level up at a fair rate.

Thanks for the tips, I never used spells like hold person and such anymore because I thought that everybody would get lucky and not freez.
Only when I used it at Daevron this afternoon.... well let's just say......
Flamestrike is indeed very good.

An additional note
I must add that Draw on Holy Might is insanely good for fighter clerics, especially as it scales with level: +1 to Dex/Con/Str for every three levels - Ouch! It really kicks in during BGII.
Hold person, silence, doom, miscast magic, skel pet, flame strike, bless, defensive harmony & chant are all very nice, broadly useful spells that clerics should be using regularly. The only really frustrating bit is the level 2 spells, which are mostly marginal/specialty spells.

yep, those level 2 spells caused my frustration and post
