How many are there the 6th house bases? I want to know the locations for loot... err, I meant they must be terminated for the sake of the world.
Thanks.

Spoilers Galore!
Seven of the 6th House bases are the ones to which you're sent as part of the main plot, and coincidentally, these are the ones with the major loot. Of course, there's nothing stopping you from raiding them early.
Five of them are inside the Red Mountain area:
Dagoth Ur
Endusal - SW of Dagoth Ur
Tureynul - NE of Dagoth Ur
Odrosal - SE of Dagoth Ur
Vemynal - NW of Dagoth Ur
Endusal and Odrosal are very close to Dagoth Ur, so once you've found one, it's easier to levitate to the others than to walk around... and around.
Kogoruhn - SE of Falasmaryon in the Ashlands north of Red Mountain. If you have the Master Index plug-in, just jump to Falasmaryon and proceed from there. Make sure you go all the way down into the Charmara's Breath Cavern - there's an entrance to another cave with some loot, and an exit to the Red Mountain area conveniently within easy reach of Vemynal (NW of the exit).
Ilunibi - NW of Gnaar Mok on Khartag Point (an island).
Mamaea - due east of Berandus. It's easiest to simply levitate from Berandus - if you reach a daedra ruin, you've gone too far. The entrance faces east.
Telasero - dwemer stronghold due east of Suran. If you have the Master Index plug-in, you'll be sent here.
There are others - but they don't have much loot.

I figured that the Ash Statues were being used by the 6th House to spread their influence. The developers could have developed this part of the plot a bit more, IMO. I don't bother with them - not worth enough money.
@Minerva - I've stumbled onto more 6th House bases than I can count all over Vardenfell, but the ones I listed are the ones with the major loot. While exploring, if you see what looks like the entrance to a Mine, but it's not, chances are 50-50 that you've found a 6th House Base.
@UncleScratchy - Is the one you mentioned being near Seyda Neen the same one that's on an island SE of Seyda Neen? I remember being sent there one game, but for the life of me can't remember how to trigger that quest.

There are 4 bases with impact on you reputation. As soon you kill a certain baddie there you may go to the near (and sometimes not so near, Maar Gan it a way from the sea) and seek the citizens - former prophopets of 6th cult. They all will praise you and you rep. will go up by a point for everybody you've spoken with (15 in total, IIRC). There are one of them almost in every canton of Vivec. I believe the base you're speaking about is the one responsible for Vivec, the Robe of St.Roris is here. Always thought it's Hlaalu quest in course of becoming House Master. Do not know if it is true, though, after the patch the bunch of quests seems falling out.
Outside the Ghostfence those 4 and Dagoth ancient stronghold (called also lost stronghold, i believe you've already guessed which) may be called bases, the others are rather outposts. None (with possible exception for that with the robe) outside the Ghostfence is ever worth to go in for loot (if you do not mind hunting to fill your gems), at least i cannot recall anything very exciting. One is directed to some now and then in course of quests for different factions, the others are up to you to find.

Oh, forgot the supposely main outpost base, the one you're going to get ill

There are some Indoril items besides the advenure. Not much worth for me usually, by that time i'm already going light with only one piece of light armor (guess, what

) and the helm - selfenchanted light or ingame heavy. Daedric Towershield, of course
