Not thrilled with the solo perspective...

I'm guessing that you are more or less solo in NWN because of the multiplayer. Still, the single player game seems incredibly boring and limited since you don't have a full party.
It would be bearable if you atleast had some control over your henchmen, but christ you can't even give them a damn heal potion or effectively get them out of the way when the ship goes down. Guess I'm just stuck on BG2 and IWD....never been much of a soloer.

Sorry, just looking for the perfect RPG...haven't found it yet.
Ultima 7 part ii was the closest, that won't run on any of todays machines and even if it did I played the $hit out of it already!

If you're looking for the "ultimate" RPG, Planescap Torment comes very very close.
If you're looking for good and fun RPG's then I would also go for Baldur's Gate (II), Ice Wind Dale (II), and Final Fantasy (VII)
But Newerwinter nights is pretty good in the multi-player part, that's what it's created for.
Me to was expection a baldur's gate III, so first I was dissapointed, but when you get into it, it's great.
But I like the BG/IWD pertspective better

Neverwinter Nights should have been more like Diablo II since it's solo playing. Hack slash hack slash. Speed, man! I hate it when my guy like, runs into some other guy, backs off a little, and then starts fighting. Vague, but you know what I mean. That's no good. You need Whirlwind, but not like the one in BG but in Diablo II. 10 attacks per round? What's up with that? You should be like a lawn mower chopping down everybody. And life/mana steal is so lame in NwN. Ah, the days of dual leech rings...

I actually like soloing in most multi-character RPGS (BGII, PS:T, FO2). Not just for the challenge, but it's a lot easier to move just one character around instead of having to worry about that damned "You must collect your party before venturing forth" BS (I swear, I was ready to start kiling off my own characters by the time I was finished with TOB). But with NWN, I'm not sure why, I didn't like it very much. Maybe it's just because I'm "forced" to play solo.
Perfect RPG? Is there such a thing? Depends on what you are looking for, really. Many people swear by the Elders Scroll series, namely Daggerfall and Morrowind since they provide a lot of "role-play" value (you can pretty much do anything you want with your character). I don't really consider FF RPGs in my books, but most people seem to like it just fine anyways. PS:T rules, but again, it seems to border on being an adventure game at times. Fallout 2 and BGII are probably the best ones in recent memory.
Oh, if you're looking for an Diablo game that looks like NWN, play Dungeon Siege. Most boring piece of crap I've ever played but fits the description perfectly.

I agree on that DS statement. I played it for 3 hours at a game show and it NEVER managed to get my interest in the very little.
Plus, I have heard it's too short. An RPG must be long to actually achieve epical proportions, IMHO.

Oh, trust me, it's sooo not short. I'm one of those guys who once I've sunk my teeth into a game I never let go until I'm done with it (edit: hey, what do you know, I ripped of Bebop), no matter how crappy it may be. But after 30 hours of the same crap I just couldn't take it anymore: Walk along a linear path, kill some monsters, find a town to buy gear/get new npcs/resupply, repeat until insane.
