At the end of ToB what did you choose? Live as a god or a mortal? Personally I chose to live as a mortal.
<thread is spoiler....>
For me, this depended a great deal on who was in the party and if there was a romance going on. So it has varied. Though, I didn't like all the "epilogues," for instance, I thought that the PC and Imoen would probably party on together for a long time (why would they separate after this point?). It would have been better to have different epilogues for all the NPCs in relation to whether the PC left or stayed, IMHO. Oh well...

Really? When I did ascend (I've always played a good party) and later compared to remaining mortal, I really don't think it makes a difference (especially to the other party members); your alignment tells you whether you're a great force for good or blahblah. The only times it makes a difference is in the romances, I think. So without that, either choice doesn't really count as good/evil outside the context of your own PC's alignment... (I still think they needed more alternative epilogues - c'mon, just a bunch of text )
My memory is fuzzy but from what I remember from reading the books in NWN, Bane is slain by Myrkul or some other god during the time of strife and I think his portfolio was passed on to a mortal and then eventually to Cyric. I'll go look it up if I ever find the time but I'm tired as hell atm.
EDIT: Oh, I was never happy with the ending either. It really did leave things hanging. I'm glad that they dealt with each NPCs, which unfortunately Planescape: Torment never did. But it would have been really nice to have more endings for each character, especially main character, that is determined by the choices you make during the game as in Fallout 2.
Ugh, this rambling has to stop, too tired...

That was in part because there were plans to reuse some of the PS:T party NPCs in the next game in the series, which was clearly planned. What a shame Interplay's accountants gave the Nameless One his final death!

Agreed. I would think this especially applies to party NPCs like Saverok, Viconia, and Anomen, whose alignment is strongly affected by choices of dialog that you make. And after all, if you don't help Jan, Edwin or Korgan, who's to say that their own personal adventures would have produced the same results? I could see Jan being killed by that nasty gnome boss he confronts (though Jan's damned resourceful), or Korgan being destroyed by ambushing enemies in some dark corridor or doom-laden dungeon.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

I had TDD installed so I was playing as a Chaotic Evil Erinyes Tiefling. I definetly took the Throne. Speaking of Viconia, I was wondering if she can become the PC's first Cleric. After all, she is at max level, and she can brag to all the other female clerics that she made love to the god they now worship.

Everytime I think about that, I almost break down in tears.
I've finished both ways, but I prefer to end it as a mortal. Seems like a more complete, less open ended ending than the other.
If I asked, would you answer? Its your problem. Its a deep, deep problem. I have no way to ask about that... I have no elegant way of stepping into your heart without tracking in filth. So I will wait. Someday, when you want to tell me, tell me then. -Bleach
PS:T
I second! Same feelings of frustrations and disappointment here. It would be ideal if someone would think of buying the rights, hire those people who wrote it, and create a continuity to the original game.Originally posted by fable
