Sarevok

I give up, how can I kill Sarevok? Magic doesnt touch him. I actually have killed him before. Buy my charactor ARAGORN always dies first. I dont know if it makes a difference or not. I mean the Doppleganger.

Killing Sarevok
Are you referring to the fight in the ducal palace? That's a fairly tough fight, but basically just buff up before the Doppelgangers change, try to slow/hold them & keep your main AWAY from Sarevok. After your party beat on him a bit, he'll bail out.

I have NO problem killing all the Nobelpeople who turn into Doppelgangers. They are a sinch. But, If I attack the Saverok Doppleganger before I attack the nobleman or after, Saverok Kills my character. I have killed Saverok but no matter what I do he kills my main dude. All the others end up relatively unscathed. So, the battle itself is not too tough. It seems the Saverok Doppleganger simply wills Aragon to death and he dies instantaneously. Sometimes it is a flamestrike that kills him. I have put a magical shield (protection from magic) around aragorn. No difference. I have kept aragorn in another room and he still dies instantaneously. I have made Aragorn invisable and had him hid in another room. Doesnt change a thing. Before Saverok dies Aragorn takes a life ending hint. Can I protect Aragorn someway? I do appreciate the help. Again, the other dopples are a breeze. I just summon animals and hold them at bay and they all are diverted from my party and I usually dont even have to have my charactors get involved in that part of the fight.

When you see Sarevok in the Ducal Palace, he is not a doppelganger. He's the real Sarevok. He has brought a bunch of doppelgangers with him to kill the last two Dukes who are still alive. (Belt is the man's name; I can't remember the woman's name.) At that point in the game, the only way to stop Sarevok and prove your own innocence is to present your evidence to the Dukes. If both of them die, you can't beat Sarevok, so the game automatically ends. That's why your character dies. So remember this: you need to give the evidence that proves Sarvok's guilt and proves your own innocence to the Dukes, and you need to make sure that at least one of them survives. If you do that, Sarevok will flee, and you can hunt him down and win the game. If dopplegangers kill both of the Dukes, then you're dead, too. Got it?
You see, killing the doppelgangers isn't so hard; what's hard is keeping the doppelgangers from killing the two Dukes. That makes things tricky, doesn't it?

One tactic I usually use is to try to position my people between the dopplegangers and the Dukes. It helps if you haste your party before you enter the hall and buff up the melee ability of everyone you can. Focus your attack on any doppleganger that is attacking a Duke and have your cleric heal the Dukes periodically. Remember, it is crucial to keep at least one of them alive so feel free to sacrifice your own party members at this point. They can be raised but the Dukes cannot.
I have also tried summoning monsters to act as a buffer but this doesn't work too well. Also, trying to cast dispel magic on the doplegangers to get rid of their haste tends to backfire as they have high magic resistance and you only wind up removing your own haste.

As luck would have it, I never had both dukes die, so I missed the intent of your question - though Sarevok did tear my guy up in melee once. It's quite hard to keep the female duke alive - again, I focused on beating the Doppelgangers down fast. Sarevok does seem to preferentially aggro the other Bhaalspawn once you turn the evidence in, so don't be too close.
So:
1) Kill the Doppelgangers, protecting the dukes as best you can
2) Turn in proof of Sarevok's wickedness to a surviving duke
3) Fight Sarevok & his lackies (where are Angelo, Tazok & Semaj in all this? Sarevok needs to review his hiring practices)
4) Pursue him to the big bad fight at the finale, with some fun & games along the way

I usualy try to haste my party as quik as I can and get between the Dukes and the Doppleganger and just let every partymember attack one doppleganger.
Usualy Minsc or Kivan or whatever can kill one and help the other's before they die.
This way you can stall the Dopplegangers without the summons (that doesn't really work, get chopped to bits).
Owh, it does work to summon some skelelton's just to bail you enough time to get hasted and into the fight.

I haven't played this particular battle in a long time, but I usually did it invisible in combination with a bunch of summoned skeletons. With an invisible or hide-in-shadows character I'd map out the room, then position a horde of skeletons among of dopplegangers (cast in the outside room as not to draw too much attention.... oddly

; summoning has worked well for me, though I may overdo it and fill the room, hehe). Then I positioned my party at the front around the nobles in guard positions, I think. I didn't even bother with Sarevok directly, as at the time my goal was only to keep both nobles alive; I just let the guards, my archers, and leftover summons deal with him.

But as for killing Sarevok in the room, you can't; I don't understand why your main character takes damage when out of sight, that's never happened whenever I played the doppleganger room, and you can't kill Sarevok at that point (are you talking about the same battle?). (?) The real goal isn't Sarevok at this point, though, as others have mentioned.

The reason that the pc gets killed is that he/she failed to protect both dukes. If they're both dead the story can't progress, hence the need to reload.
