???
I don't understand... probably 'cause I never took a paladin through SoA.
Irenicus took away your pc's paladinhood, how exactly? And how can your pc be a cavalier and not a paladin? A cavalier is a paladin, just as a conjurer is a mage.

I am sure there is some mix up. Do you mean to say that you have fallen, that is, taken an evil path somewhere prior to Spellhold? You could check your previous saves to see where you may have gone wrong, assuming you still have them.

no, it was exactly at the same time that he said the phrase 'I have stripped you of the one thing you hold most dear.' I remember it vividly - it was at the same time he took my soul.

When Irenicus take your soul, he also removes those abilities that you got at the start of the game due to your Bhaal inheritance - Cure Light Wounds, Slow Poison and Draw Upon Holy Might (for Lawful Good characters). These will not be return to you; they are not Paladin powers. Since you are still a Cavalier, then you are still a Paladin.

He says the same phrase no matter what profession your PC is. He's referring to a part of your inner self, where the God resides. By Irenicus' way of thinking, this is the most precious thing to you, since it involves great power. He cannot conceive of anybody thinking otherwise, which is why he describes it in such terms, believing you would instantly understand his meaning.

these abilities don't matter that much anymore, you've progressed so far in the game now that you should be able to play without'm.
you'll get something better back for those lost abilities, you'll find out in a little while.
