What would be the best backstab weapon?

What weapon would be the best for my assassin to backstab with? and what proficiency would that be?

Celestial Fury usually, as it is the best one handed slashing/piercing weapon (1D10 + 3.)
Against undead however, Daystar is best ((1D8 + 4) x 2 Vs. Undead)

Maybe you should consider the aspect of roleplaying , too. I have a hard time imagining a halfling or dwarf equipped with a katana, for example. Short Swords and especially Daggers are more or less made for backstabbing.

Agreed? Can you imagine how many halfling Barbarian/Mage, Kensai dwarfs with two katanas or Elven berserkers it's running around out there. As an old D&D gamer i turn in my grave.

Hm, Celestial Fury, Boneblade, Short sword of Backstabbing or Blackrazzzzzzzzor...

Jhor the bleeder isn't bad... it's nice for the extra damage especially versus mages - i always liked the dager of venom in bg1
another good choice would be crom feyr for nice raw power - or did they change the backstabing weapon protocols from bg1...

I don't think that Crom Faeyr will work...but who needs it when he's got The Equaliser or Blackrazzzzzzor!

I cant wait to try out those weapons.
Right now my backstab is x4 with a katana +1
i did a whooping 54 damage with it!
Surprised the hell outta me!

with my assassin dualed to mage at level 17 i did 122 damage with a short sword of backstabbing

I think Anomen's arrogance wrapped in cloth would be a WONDERFUL back-stab weapon. It'd be bloody heavy.
