Go into the Internet options of your browser. There should be some security controls that let you set any downloads to "prompt." This will stop the automatic download of invasive spyware like Gator, Comet, etc.

I realize this wasn't the intent of your comment, but I thought it might help. :)

Are these Gator ads still showing up? I've altered our popup rotation to try and remove them, but they may be coming from another company that I'm not aware of.

Some pop-up ads have a nasty way of sneaking in through pop-up ads. There may be nothing you can do on your side of it, because of that.

Well I get the prompt and all, but that's not the point.... in another thread we were debating almost the same thing and Gator was mentioned and buck told us to look out for any pop ups that cause automatic dl

@Buck: If there is anyway for you to check the auto install was lanchued after two pop ups were launched and then directly closed again, I only got to see the title of the pop up as " ".

I now have some more inf about the Gator pop up....... it is not a direct pop up but it is triggered by an empty pop up...... what I mean is that a pop up with a hidden frame is displayed..... and then the hidden frame calls some program or something which launghes the pop up which wants to install the program seen in my post above......

I'be been getting this pop ups more and more frequent lately..... and next time I get it I'll try to catch the address of the first pop up.......

Adaware Works

If any of you suspect you've downloaded a spyware or any other form of advertisement program, there's at least one good solution:

Ad Aware

It's a small program that looks for and recognizes all sorts of these things, including Gator, and cleans them from your computer. I'd highly recommend everyone who hasn't checked their computer out in awhile to look at it.
