Cleric Spontaneous Cast

Ok I did a search and came up with nothing so here goes. In the book it says that clerics get spontaneous cast:

Spontaneous Cast
Gained: 1st Level
Use: Automatic
Bonus: Able to replace any spell and cast a 'healing' variety of the same psell level instead. Whenever the clerics see an S in the upper left-hand corner of the spell icon, they can cast the spell spontaneously. This will 'use up' another spell of the same level as the spell cast.

I can't get this to work. I have tried everything I know of to get it to work, I mem'd healing spells of various levels. No luck. I tried it again only this time I mem'd no healing spells. Again no luck. Please if anyone knows how to get this to work let me know.

P.S. I have the latest patch so I am up-to-date program wise.

I remember this took me a while to find out as well - it is mentioned somewhere (I think one of the load screens tells you how to do it).

Oh! I remember: You go into your "spellbook" and move the cure spell you want to spontaneously cast to one your quickbars (the F1 to F12 and the shft and ctrl varieties). If you then cast it from the quickbar, you will lose one of your prepared spells (you can't choose which one) and will cast a cure spontaneously.

Thanks a ton, I thought I was bugged. After doing what you suggested I can now spontaneous cast. Oh, I did a little testing and found out that it isn't random what spell is taken. It takes spells in the order that you have them memorized from left to right. Anyways, thanks again for the help.

I know this is thread Necromancy and all, but it took me forever to figure out how to spontaneously cast. I've played NWN for I don't know how many years, and didn't know how to do this. Without this thread, I still have no idea. Thanks GB.
