How Many Chapter 2 Quests Do You Do?

Simple question.. most of you have gone through this game more times than any sane person would (And no, that's not really an insult :) ). I imagine after the 10th time of saving Nalia's keep or rescuing Haer Dalis' can get boring.. and Chapter 2 just takes so long if you do most of the quests.

I'm just curious mostly.

Every time I went trough the game (except on my first run, when I didn't do 1 or 2 quests), I did all the quests.

Why shouldn't you, if you skip them, you only will ahve finished the game sooner

After a couple of runs you learn what quests give XP and good loot, then you can start to skip quests like getting the teddy and such.....

ive only finished once but have several ones going.

Game gets boring for me if i do to many in chapter 6. I have a game where i have shadow dragon scale armor, staff of the magi, and some other good **** and I havent hit spellhold yet. I have yet another game where I'm only going to do a few, do the storyline junk, then come back and try the rest in chapter 6

It depends. The first time through, I did all of 'em at once. After that, I did only a few, and happily observed that the 2nd chapter quests got harder if I did the Underdark stuff, first. I liked that element of variation, and I've continued to alternate, ever since. :)

You can complete everything available even loot Watcher's Keep before going on with the main storyline, but it spoils the later parts of SoA since you'll be too overpowered and have the best stuff. As Fable pointed out, however, there are many ways to play it and they each offer a different experience.

Personally (I usually play good) I like to pay the Shadow Thieves, deal with the vampire situation and get ready to leave (plus those nifty items). Then perhaps do a quest or two before continuing on. Thus I have a longer and more meaningful Ch.6.

But with several hardcore mods installed, the game is challenging throughout and I don't feel as bad about powering up early on and with getting the good stuff

Most of the time I do 3/4 - all the quest. It seems you have no break, and people allways need you. Plus I like it to get nice and powerfull when its time to smack some drow :D

Lately I roleplay

I actually roleplay my characters and try to decide which adventures they would actually do. I don't base which ones to do on amount of gold or experiance available and I try to do the stronghold quests first so that as you are doing other quests the timer goes by and you can get those stronghold quests more quickly. for example.

Im running my LE fighter/assassin through and the only quests Marcus is going to do are ones that he KNOWS will benefit him as his thieves stronghold. The only quests he will actually do that involve leaving the city were the Valygar quest and the Trademeet quest. He turned Valygar's body into the wizard thinking that he would get a good contact into the Cowled Wizards, but it didn't happen. The Trademeet quest I roleplayed as causing his stronghold problems (one of the 'jobs' you do is provide protection for Trademeet merchants). So as a good Don he is going to Trademeet to find out who is causing his pockets to loose loot. He woulndt help the people in Umar Hills because he didnt care about the country bumkins. He didn't take Lord Firkrag's offer because he suspucted soomething shifty was up (good Int and Wis) Plus he doesnt enjoy running around the forest chasing ogres and such. He can make 10,000 gold pieces easy in Athkatla by robbing merchnats and nobles. He did do the bridge serial killer quest because it was causing the prostitution rings and muggers to loose money. I find it much more enjoyable as to WHY a character would do a quest. BTW he did 'stumble' upon the Kangaxx quest ( there is a locked and trapped door right NEXT to his thief stronghold. Who wouldnt check it out?)

My paladin girl Vala though isnt going to stumble upon the kangaxx quests or the twisted claw quests because she doesnt just wander into peoples house for any good reason. Plus she isnt going to do the valygar because she wouldnt give her word to the wizard without knowing what in Hades it was about. (She isnt going to 'stumble' upon valygar's house either). She didnt help Xar or Renal Bloodscalp. Plus I had a post discussing her various reasons for doing these quests.

Yes I will loose out on loot and experiance if I don't do these quests. But it increases the replayability of it for me if I do it like this. Different personalities would do different things.

(Tactics ease of use, 50th level spells Asensition) from wiemer lots of fun especially doing all the stronghold quests

I Always did the 2nd level stuff first as I figured I’d be overpowered I’ll give this a try thanks
For the tip, learn something new about this game all the time

*********************************************

I do all the quests, character quests and strongholds except a couple of the character quests

Edwin (I like to kill him off during the thief quest as a act of support for M&B) :D

Jahera how long can one put up with her, :o on the other hand the final harper Battle does give you a good magic type ring, you want to try the upgraded romance ;)

Anomen- hate this twit…… …..his quests suck big time and I generally don’t go for law over justice types

Haer’Dalis I have no use for bards… …nuff said (although I do sometimes take him along, use him as fodder and then reform the group when he is dead :) )

cheers

Chapter Two

First time through (Vanilla SoA w/out ToB, no bonus merchants) I did most of the quests but left the tough ones (Dragons, Unseeing eye, twisted rune, liches, etc.) out.

Next complete run-through had ToB and bonus merchants - I did all the quests I could in Ch.2, which was pretty much everything except some NPC-specific ones, though I didn't go to Watcher's Keep.

This time, I have the Tactics mod installed (plus Ascension, some custom NPCs, Ease of Use, Spell 50, etc.), and I'm expecting I won't be able to do some of the bits untill later - bloody liches

Which should YOU do? Please yourself, of course. I'd try all the ones that appeal at least a couple of times.

***Minor Spoilers***

My very first time through (so long ago now :P ) I immediately rushed onwards with vampires and coudln't work out why my characters were dying so quickly after being level drained to death lol. I didn't quite understand it completely at that stage. All I could think of was getting Immy back, I didn't realise there was no time limit to going after her.

I went around and did a few of the quests and found things a lot easier :P

Now I tend to do just about all the quests before going to spellhold. I don't get bored with the chapert 2 quests. It's generally the part after leaving the city that I don't enjoy as much. I always can't wait to get out of the Underdark and back up to the city and familiar areas :) I like having everything done when I go back so I can immediately go onto smashing the vamps for the 2nd time and straight onto the elven city.
