Can a sorcerer use a magic item, say a Ring of Wizardry or Acuity, to gain more spells castable per day (at the appropriate spell levels)?

I tried a game with the sorceror and found that the necklace of metaspell influence did indeed allow an extra 2nd level spell to be cast each day.
Nonetheless, I abandonned the game when I reached 10th level and still couldn't cast 5th level spells. Check the sorceror spell table on this site.

According to the tables you mentioned, you should have been able to cast a single "known" 5th level spell 3 times per day at 10th level of experience. What do you think happened in your case? Were you given the choice to learn a 5th level spell when levelling to 10th?
Can anybody else confirm that the Ring of Wizardry allows extra "castings" for a sorcerer?

The ring of wizardry gives the wearer an extra 5th lvl, 6th lvl and 7th lvl spell to memorize...so yes he will be able to cast more spells...he just need to memorize them first.

i didn't try the ring otu on my sorceress until after she was a very high level and had maxed out at her 6 spells per level, and the ring definitely does not allow you to have a seventh for those spell levels.
