Valen Questions

I have a couple of questions
a) does anyone know what "class" Valens claws are?
and
b) is it chessy/bugged duel wielding valens claws(on her of course)?
Any DM's out there who would object to valen duel wielding her claws ie using both of her hands!!
c) It's nice to be back on the boards.

Cheesy, @Fezek, and welcome back.

Yes, those claws were a mistake. At the higher end of development, they become not merely lethal, but godlike.

@Fable, ta! I must admit she is getting a bit daft now. Any idea about the class of her claws?

actually guys, there actually is sorta justification for the claws in the game....
dagg20 will put into inventory the daggers of life stealing, which have a 15% chance of level draining her victems...
but completely agree that the claws are godlike...
in fact they are so cheesy i didnt want to play with her, cause the claws are so cheesy....hahahhahhahah....
course, i sked her to assassin fighter, but thats about normal for my party....
oh and fezek, her claws are daggers....and yes, you can give them to a npc or pc with use any item...

the daggers you get with valen are not quite the same, but shares much of the characteristics....
they have a different icon, and valen's level determines the power...
the dagger of life stealing is just an item in the game, one of the most obscenely overpowered, much like the staff of magi

You could use Vanim to get that jo done (and give him the Claws, must be cruel have a 7-times backstab multiplier on them

)
Oh sorry, that was also cheesy

Most definately the claws do become a bit much. I got her to use "firetooth" (that's the dagger, not the Xbow) that's found in the underdark. No other weapon equipped in the off hand. It does the same amount of damage as a bastard sword as well as the extra fire damage

Excellent for taking out mages because she hits so quickly with it and the fire damage gets thru stone skins. No matter which weapon you use, she does become quite powerful. But your told that before you download her. She's more or a role play character than anything else. Just someone you take through for the unqiue situations she manages to get you into

I loved taking Valen because she's pure ebil! Ebil I say! Much different to the good parties I usually take through with me
If your really worried about her being too overpowered, try and limit her in some way. Like I said, she's really there to be role played............. Excellent fun

Definately (IMO) the most interesting NPC out there.

I agree, Valan is good for rollplaying,
I realy like it when she makes decissions(sp?) for you.
But that can also be VERY annoying

ok so color me slow, why is a 15% chance of a level drain such
an overpowered item.....is there something I am missing
For example
The ax of the unyielding has a 10% chance to kill per strike, so specialize in axes throw a GWW and you have 1/10 X10 = 100% chance of insta kill. This seems to be fairly accurate although with
10 attacks most things die without the instakill bonus
Specialize in daggers as a warrior ( a very common weapons specialization for fighter types

) throw a GWW and
after 10 attacks you should drain 1.5 levels, you will however
probibly not have killed the creature in terms of combat damage
I must be missing something (tho I think the staff of the magi
is vastly overated)
Please enlighten me oh cheese master
Cheers

True, but it was fun to imagine her pretty much attempting to become godlike by stealing the throne out from under me when she took out 4 of the 5 in Ascension during a couple of planted time traps, dual wielding her claws and sanchuu (with GM katana). Too bad I have a laptop and my computer crashed right before she could finish the job.

This is a statistics clarification... with a 10% chance of an outright kill and 10 tries the actual probability is
1-(the probability of failing 10 times in a row)
or 1-(.9^10)
In other words, you have about a 65% chance of killing someone outright in 10 tries - assuming you hit every time, and neglecting the fact that 10 hits might well do the job anyway. If you assume an 80% chance of a succesfull hit, the probability drops to about 56%, or at 50% chance of a hit, about 40%
Cheers!
