He didn't ask when; he asked how. ;)

@TacoMagus, if I recall correctly, they should automatically cast the spell when needed, provided they have enough spell points to do so. If they don't have the spell points, give 'em potions to replenish mana, or sleep to restore mana. Hope that helps.

I think it's because of Magnus's tech orientation. Virgil can't heal other people very well when they are a strong techy character. If you want to heal him it would be better to get a tech healer (some woman) or make some healing salves yourself.
I would undoubtedly prefer the former...or the latter.

A very good point. Typically, if you mix techs and mages in your party, you're going to need mages who can heal, and techs who can make healing salves. Of course, you can go for a more uniform party, one way or the other, but if you do, you'll have poorer luck when you run into enemies of the other side of the equation.

It would be fun to take along some melee characters like Chukka and Sogg. Worthless Mutt is just cool, and Raven might suit your needs for healing if you dislike Virgil. Dante can also cast healing spells, and you can get him early on, I think (it's been a while since I've played).
I would undoubtedly prefer the former...or the latter.
