I am not even done with my first time through BG2 and already I am thinking about my next group. My current protagonist is a Skald. I like him but I am certainly gonna try something different next time. My current group is of good alignment (except neutral jaheira).

My group now

Me = Skald
Imoen
Aerie
Minsc
Anomen
Jaheira

My next group will be evil I think. My idea..

Me = Monk (maybe)
Imoen
Jan
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin

Monks rock...do it man. Make sure to get Keldorn's armor early for your monk...then he starts to become a juggernut of power...just wait till he hits level 12 then 13 then 14 then...you get the drift...

although maybe I should not use Jan and replace him with another tank.

which tank?

You could go with Valygar for another tank. As long as your rep doesnt drop too low

Although I should say with you as a monk and korgan in your group...you could add 4 mages and still kick a**.

it looks like your new party will be great -- i would drop imoen before i dropped jan, but that's just me. i think he's a better character and by FAR a better thief. plus, he's got some of the most entertaining dialogue in the game.

but if you're going to replace him with some other tank, what about...jahiera? her spells come in handy and she has a great AC which makes her a very usable fighter. or you can go with anomen and have him fail his test Image

Actually Jaheira is not a bad idea at all. I love the fire elementals.

It would seem odd dropping Imoen after all the troible you go through to get her....but wth.

I would try this group just because you haven't played them yet right?? With the exception of Imoen.

Plus swapping out with the other NPC's will give you some very entertaining conversations.

Me = Monk (maybe)
Imoen
Jan
Korgan
Viconia
Edwin

Remember you don't have to take Imoen in your group. Apparently she (and she alone) can find her way out of the underdark if you drop her from your party. This frees up another space in your party for the NPC's you haven't tried.

Yeah, but after all the trouble you had to get her...Besides, she plays an important role in the story...

This is my ultimate evil group:
Playing multiplayer
PC: Kensai/Mage
PC:Bounty Hunter
Vic
Korgan
Edwin
Jaheira

I am shooting through the game with no problems with this combo. Imoen BLOWS. After playing through the game the first time there is no reason to keep her around.

Imoen is one of the best mages in the game, for her level. She gets all mage spells, has better XP. and as many spells as a specialist mage. The problem is that she is much lower level than most parties by the time she is rescued, and she has a pissant selection of spells (easily solved by pickpocketing the drow merchant and bringing some with you in scroll cases)
