Aiming is tricky

What is the deal with aiming?

I am continuously being beaten by monsters (even the rats!) because I can't manage to hit them. Even when my crosshair is over them and I punch my mouse button as fast as I can they always hit me while I can land a blow on them!

What gives?

TIA for the input.

Well, it probably has to do with you level. Morrowind is a game that operates on a bell curve, as far as difficulty is concerned. At the beginning, you pretty much suck, unless you boost a few stats, or find some good items; very quickly your character improves, by fifth or sixth level, the game can be significantly easier (if you are smart). By the time you reach level 30, the only way you can really die is if you forget to look at your life, and never heal or rest (I say this because I frequently forget to heal, suddenly realizing my life is down to 30-something).

At the beginning, take it slow, heal frequently, and work on one method for killing things, there will be plenty of time to increase your other weapons later.

And I got to tell you, I am a relatively high level now, and I still miss when my fatigue is low (keep the green bar high, don't run too much when you are low level).

I hope low level was you problem, if it is, it gets easier, trust me.

Your ability to hit something is affected by your skill level. You'll start seeing some improvement in your ability to hit with a particular weapon when your skill level hits 30. When a weapon skill reaches 60, you'll be hitting most creatures most of the time with that weapon type.

It realy pays to use the trainers too. Another thing you can do is enchant an exquisit ring with bound weapon of your choice, permanent effect. A bound weapon boosts you skill 10 poiints, and it weighs nothing to carry around

....Say CHEEZE PLEEZE :D

On my 4th attempt with the game, I knew I wanted "archer" as my primary style and I found the same - I couldn't hit the side of the barn - from inside. I fooled around a bit and discovered where I had to aim if I wanted to hit something. BINGO! (I had to start above the subject's shoulder to the right and about a head-height higher).

Does that aiming spot work only for arrows? Or for pretty much anything else?

TIA

I tried with a crossbow and found I had to aim to the other side. I don't use the crossbow much despite its fabulous stats, because I have difficulty finding bolts (arrows are everywhere).

I discovered darts with Mournhold, but by then my Marksman was so high (and my aim dead-on), I never had the chance to find out where to aim, although darts do tend to sink during flight.
