Archer is really good

I must admit I never thought much of the Archer subclass, I have played pretty much all the classes with the exception of the cleric class(too religious for my tastes), and had a brief very brief stint with the paladin class but it was to goody goody for my tastes, so I decided to try a variation of my most favorite of all classes the Ranger(incidently my first that I played through the game with and still my favorite class), I had played as the Stalker and Beastmaster(isn't very good), but had never played as the Archer(due mainly to a preference to having my character fight in the frontline), but just for the heck of it I decided to try out the character and was pleasantly surprised.
With only three characters(myself archer, upgraded Aerie stats to 18 in both wisdom and intelligence, changed Nalia into a Swashbuckler(already had a magic user and would pick up Imoen later so why keep Nalia, but I like Nalia consider her attactive(okay okay so I have no life), so I used Shadokeeper and converted her to a swashbuckler(my most favorite of all classes after the pure ranger).
Anyway I got through the first chapter with ease, using Nalia to keep the enemies busy while I sniped at them from the back, they never stayed long enough in contact with Nalia long enough for her to get much damage, and even then her low armor class as per the swashbuckler class makes any hits against her unlikely.
So I got through the Umber Hills quest, and Nalia's quest(boy it was fun firing all those fire and acid arrows and seeing those trolls going down), the main Troll boss was rather a pushover when before with other character classes I had my life reduced(using the old tried and true ambush technique), My life and my other characters, but here all I had to do was give Nalia a few potions and everything was alright.
I am planning on completing the Planar Sphere quest now, and then onward and outward to Trademeet, and so on.
The armor you are limited to in the form of studded leather isn't that bad either, I mean as a archer you are not supposed to be in the front lines anyway, and there is some good armor out there especially Aegis Hide, and Armor of the Deep night, of course you eventually get some even better armor later on in TOB, so the whole armor thing isn't much of a hindrance, plus I eventually plan on getting Telemortis(Upgraded Weimar bow), once I get that far.
Anyway the Archer is really awesome, I would recomend it to anyone who hasn't tried it yet.
