Bonus Merchant Path Not Working...

I just installed BG2 on my new notebook and got the official patch plus the bonus patch. For some reason, after unzipping the merchant patch like I'm supposed to, the merchants don't show in game! Anyone know something about this?

Where did you look for them?
Joluv appears in the Copper Coronet, Slums district. Usually inside, but sometimes has appeared outside on the street, just before the door to get in.
Deirdre stands in the Adventurer's Mart, up the stairs behind Ribald. She's near one of the tables, close to the stairs.

Having played the game through once before, yes, I do know where to look for them. It says so again in the readme file attached to the download, when I went through hoping to find some answers.

Did you go to either of those areas before installing the merchants? I think I saw something on here about having to delete the area files from the cache or data folder so that they would show up...
