Side areas left hanging: Anyone try to fix them? Character personal quests?*spoilers*

I was just curious if some unexplained areas were ever expanded by anybody. Areas like:
1) The guarded compound.
2) The mind flayer lair in the Temple District sewers.
3) The room with the minotaur and the Myoconids(sp?) in the Copper Coronet sewers.
Also, what about personal quests for joinable NPCs? I know that Jan, Mazzy, Keldorn, and a slew of others have them. What about Minsc, Aerie, or Valygar? Stronhold quests don't count
Doesn't Korgan have one dealing with some lady in the big Government District building? (FYI, his "Book of Kaza" quests involve the Graveyard, Temple, and Slums Districts only)

I believe the areas you've mentioned were originally a part of plots, which were dropped during development (mainly due to lack of time). The Guarded Compound, for example, was a part of Slave Lords, involving Nalia's betrothed (can't remember his name).
Minsc hasn't got quest. Valygar's quest is the Planar Sphere (going in, find Lavok etc. part. Not Mage's quest), and Aerie's is Circus Tent.

Yes
The "Guarded compound" is Slavers part II, with some bits that never got completed (those empty bottles were intended as quest items, like the worn boots, but they never happened), and the Isea Roenall connection was never completed.
I think the Mind flayers in the sewers were always intended to be complete, though of course "The Hidden" gives you a suggestion that there's further nefarious Ilithid activities still going on, as P'nai does for the inkies.
The minotaur & dead party are just a vignette of the adventurer's life, like the much funnier "Bondari Reloads"
In a way, I rather like the incomplete bits - they create the illusion of more world out there, waiting to be discovered.

Minsc was due for a subquest involving the theft of Boo...it was cut as the designers couldn't agree on the ending.

actually, if you install tactics mod with the improved guarded compound, you find on koshi's body a rogue stone with a specific clue pointing to the twisted rune...so weimer's mod makes the link a bit clearer...
but i gotta agree with ya, id love to see more of those loose ends tied up...

Isn't there a mod that finishes those quests?

Yeah, that's kind of what I thought would have gone on.
*chuckles at the signature comment "My hovercraft if full of eels."*
(Mine would have to be full of carrion crawlers.

I would like to know what is going on with the merchant in Waukeen's Promenade who only deals in rare artwork. You can sort of interact with him, but it seems like he is looking for a specific item in your inventory.
I've tried presenting him with various things that could be considered "art" but I get no response. Especially intriguing are the paintings from the 2nd level of Spellhold Dungeon, which specifically state that they are low-quality. This suggests to me that there might be something out there that is high-quality, but so far I haven't found it and suspect that this was another quest cut from production. Has anyone investigated this?

I've wondered the same like you, little dwarf. However, I got the same answers (if you're interested: search this forum for the thread "hidden quests").
Too bad, but someone's gonna make a mod about the hidden some day.
@JackOfClubs: (poss. Spoiler)
Don't you mean the ore-merchant in Waukeens Promenade?
And yes, it sounds distracting when especially is mentioned "low quality", but there are more like these mix-ups in the game (although, I can't remember where...)

About a certain someone *De'Arnise Keep spoiler*
Is there any way to cure Glaicias(sp?) of some powerful enchantment that's on him, or is my party meant to kill him NO MATTER WHAT? Dispel magics don't seem to do the job. Charm spells only work temporarily. I wonder if a way to save him just wasn't implimented.

if its the guy that attacks you because his new masters sorcery has shown him the way then no. hes meant to be killed. you could just not go into the room but he has a flail head so.... hop this was the guy you were talking about

Yup, that's him. It's just that I remember Nalia (if she's present in the room, when the dialogue activates) trying to convince him to stop and/or telling your character to try and save him.

Hmmm....
I think you can Dire Charm him, maybe. This has been discussed previously, I'm sure.

@Galuf: Yes, I know the intended use of the paintings, but I thought maybe they could be sold to this guy as well. Didn't work though.
@NiteWulf: No, not the ore merchant. There is a dealer in fine art behind the merchant that makes horns.
Regarding "saving" Glacias: I managed to get him to convert him twice, but I can never remember how I did it. It may have been with Dire Charm or Domination, but since I rarely use such spells, I don't think so. I know I didn't have Nalia in my party the first time.
EDIT: Ah, here it is from Dan Simpson's walkthrough
In the de'Arnise Hold, in the secret room where Glaicas is located, you have to charm him to "normalcy". But there's a bug with the game: a couple of seconds after you charm him, he turns blue for about 1 second, then turns green again. So, basically, your own charm spell is interfering with the script that would lead to him talking to you.
If you want to save him (and earn 22,550 xp), you have to time it right so that when you charm him (he turns green) one of your attacks will hit him (this must happen BEFORE he turns blue). He will turn red again... pause the game and make sure you stop all your characters! He will continue being hostile, but then the script will kick in. He'll talk to you and give you the last part of the flail.
