Has anyone every tried going solo succecfully, and if so
what would you say you can or cant do?
Like im guessing a solo mage wouldnt work etc.
And is there anything important one has to konw about going solo, such as pump constitution etc. TNX

Just about every class has been soloed.

Of course, you'll want a decent STR, CON, and DEX, but it's not necessary to max those (unless they happen to be the prime attributes of your class).

In theory every class can solo the game,
but a solo-mage is going to have a VERY hard time.
I can recommend using a thief class.
I played a fighter/thief solo, and I was depending alot of backstabbing.
This reminds me of an old thread I once started, (and never finished)
My solo story

Yeah, as what was said above, you can solo with pretty much any class. If you are looking for the most doable solo class though, IMO it is Fighter/Thief.

I think Fighter/Mage/Thief is the easiest. Probably the hardest is Druid, at least until you get higher levels. Mages can make up for their deficiencies by gaining appropriate items (especially wands) but druids just don't have that many options.

in what order do you multiclass? First theif, then fighter or first fighter and then theif?
And why not go pure theif? Is it that much harder

Fighter/mage/thief has one problem, you only have one weapon quickslot, and that's very annoying.
You're right about druid, was gonna say that myself.

The use of longbows is pretty good, and fr that you'll need a fighter.
And it's better to multi-class (2classes at the same time) then to dualclass

Yeah that is annoying. But I found I didn't use ranged weapons when I was soloing anyway, since there was little hope of killing everyone before they got to me. And you can use wands as substitute ranged "weapons" in a pinch.

With ranged weapons, you can damage enemies and make the fight a little easier before they reach you however. Also, you can take out some annoying magic users right quick before they can cast spells. In my personal experience (After playing the game about a dozen times

) you don't really need a mage to be effective. Sure, in a party it helps to have the extra options, but I don't think it is worth it when you are soloing. The extra star for a fighter/thief over fighter/mage/thief is a huge help. A solo thief is going to have a huge problem... I would even reccomend a solo fighter or paladin over a solo thief. A thief simply can't take on the big baddies... I can't imagine how you would defeat the likes of Daveron, Tazok (or hurt him enough to let you in the camp anyway), even Mulehey will be a problem. Not to mention all the nasties in TotSC and the final battle. I played the game with no thief in my party once and I managed. It was a little annoying at times but I got by, so a solo fighter/paladin is not a bad idea either, although Hide in Shadows and 2 stars in a missile weapon and a melee weapon with a Figher/Thief is probably the most advisable choice. If you are looking for a massive challenge however, then you are welcome to play a solo thief or druid or whatever you want. It's up to you

A ranger might be an option. He can melee with the best of them, charm animals for some extra help and use his stealth ability to avoid some though and unnecessary fights. Also, at high levels he can use some priestspells for buffing, healing and detect traps. And with high con he has enough hitpoints to take damage from traps you can't avoid.
You have to roll some high stats though, the only thing a ranger has no use for is intelligence.

Well I've soloed, or at least experimented soloing, with every class. The hardest classes are probably Druid and Mage. Druid because their only big damage spell Call Lightning is useless indoors. And mages because they're tough to get started. Well a Druid is by far more difficult in the long run, and I'd stay away from a Mage if you're discouraged easily.
Other than that it all depends on how you wanna deal with your battles. If you're into brute force a Fighter/Cleric or Fighter/Druid are both good. More spells than you know what to do with, then go with a Cleric/Illusionist. Also any thief combo is guaranteed to work. If you want a real challenge with some potential then try out a Bard. Sure they can't cast and wear armour at the same time and their battle song is now useless because you have no party. But with any solo a ranged weapon is prefered, so anyone that can use a bow is a go. Also don't forget to roll godly stats, and grab the RoW in the FAI area.

When you create a charcter, yopu make a roll for you're starting streght/dex/con/etc.
Then you can change certain points (for example, 2 less wisdom, and 2 more on strenght)
Sometimes you make a lousy roll and the total is for example 70, when you reroll you can hope to get more points, and thus better stats.
Hope this helps,
if not, feel free to ask

I don't find mages that hard to get started. You just have to do quests that give non-combat experience. And you have to know where to go to get magic items that help you win battles.
(such as the wand of fire in the Ankheg nest).

so let me get this straight.
A random roll is made and for example you roll a 60, so your stats add up to sixty?
10 strengh
10 consitution
10dexterity
10wisdom
10 intelligence
10 charisma

Correct.... and now you can subtract and add points as you see fit.

Yes, that's correct.
But be aware that random rolls are automatically adjusted to meet class and race limitations, alleviating some of the "randomness". For example, the minimum stats for a human Ranger are 13, 13, 14, 3 (avg 10), 14, 3 (avg 10). So an "average" roll for a Ranger could never be less than 74. The
minimum roll for an elven Ranger is 13, 12, 15, 8, 14, 8. Compare that to the minimum roll for a human Fighter: 9, 3, 3, 3, 3, 3. As you can see, it's easier to roll a good set of stats for Ranger than it is to roll a good set of stats for a Fighter or other single-class characters such as Mages and Thieves.
