Hibernation?

Whenever I rest my party, they sleep for like 60 days!
Does anyone know what did this? Tnx I know it only took like 18-32 hours at max last time I played IWDII, not 60 days

When I first played IWD2 (with the prerequisite crappy party), I had the same thing happen to me... at first I assumed it was because of the radical mix of races that I had selected. But well, that's obviously erroneous.
So here' s what I think causes the problem:
When you rest outdoors, it automatically does the 'rest until healed' option, meaning the computer calculates (based on your party members' individual regeneration rates) how much time you spend to regain all the hit points that you have lost. Hence, if some of the characters in your party have low Constitution (>10) they should naturally heal slower than normal and this, I believe, is what causes the incredibly long rest times.
Of course, this could all be wrong and it could just be a bug.
However I am sure of this: one way to shorten rest times is to expend all your healing spells (since you're going to be re-memorizing anyway) on your damaged party members before you rest (if you cast mass heal, all the better - you will rest for only 8 hours - which is the time it takes to re-memorize all your spells).
What's really funny about this is that the party I'm using now finished HoF in 52 days and 13 hours (game clock). So it looks like your guys are just really lazy.

im sure its a bug. The party I almost finished the game with had about the same stats. The one im useing now sleeps for 60 days, not hours, days! Thats a sixth of the year! It doesnt change the gameplay, but its anoyying to look at the save screen and see that im on day 1020 . Its taken me 3 years to get to the ice palace!

Not sure about IWD2, but I had this happen in BG2 and it was because I had no cleric at that time. All healing spells (those that were not used during the day) are used during resting automatically, and then re-memorized. It all happens behind the scenes. When I played BG2 with a three player party (fighter, rogue, sorcerer) it was all fine until I got to Spellhold and my main character - the berserker - turned to Slayer. Before this, he had several low level healing spells (heal, cure poison, etc.). After his legacy of Bhaal is shown, he loses all of them, so I had absolutely no way to heal. And the first rest of mine took something around 50 days (after a battle). So that's that.

Yeah, what healing spells do you have?
You usually get the option to rest for just 8 hours (and cast spells) or "rest until healed": healing spells cast automatically upon rest, rince and repeat until fully healed.
If you have few such spells, it takes a while. Natural regeneration is very low (like 1 HP per day).

You don't have a cleric or a druid in your party??? oh my god... You can try and continue to play without a healer but I find it hard to play like that...

You could always give someone 1 class in cleric and stock up on healing spells - that will at least reduce your time healing by some.

On clerics
I would have say personally that CLERICS are my favorite class. My whole party almost can cast spells of healing. This helps bigtime. I can fight several tough battles in one day usually.
I have an1} asimar paladin of helm22
2}shield dwarf fighter6/cleric of helm18
3}halfelf druid22
4}Ghostwise halfling barbarian4/rouge9/cleric of
lothander9
5}halfelf bard11/ranger11
6}moonelf evoker22
All of these expect the last one can heal multipale times a day. I think its great. I like to have every class accounted for in the game because every class gains a boom at some point in the game, items especially. The only class I don't have accounted for is monk. I think I could have a monk speciality {favored}class then take cleric and rouge like my #4} charactor up there. Or multiclass it with the druid,(#3}). Fighter to me is the most useless class because anything that can benefit them can also usually benefit a paladin or ranger. I find cleric the best class for me. Thay have plenty of healing, offisive aids, defensive aids, sommoning, and pretty good hit die.
I hope I did not make any body to mad, but I feel its about time I unleash some of the fury of my charactors.
P.S.
When I finished the game my paladin was the toughest charactor, (tank),. Now by a good 8%points in favor of the shield dwarf. Helm is every watchfull of the vigilant one
(and thus rewards them there good deeds)!
I'll make mine targos

maybe its because im an an RPG nub, but, i really dislike clerics.. and casting healing spells in battle. i tend to like more melee-oriented parties,
right now i have
2 half-orc barbarians, lvl12
1 human druid, lvl 12
1 human aasimir paladin, lvl13
1 mild elf sorcerer, lvl10
flying through the game, (am at the fell wood quests), and have yet to need any healing spells in the midst of battle.

in my opinion, clerics are more an accessory to the party than a necessity. they make things more convenient for you, true, but having a whole schlock of them is holy overkill (and inefficient) - if you have a single priest of lathander he is more than enough to keep your party running for a long long time (days even, since they can remove fatigue) - especially if you manage your melee classes well.
i take issue with fighters being discounted as the most 'useless' class. since we are all entitled to our own opinions, and Patrick is unlikely to change his mind (and neither am i) i will not launch into a debate over the merits of the fighter. i will, however, offer this friendly challenge - since lunarwater (god bless him) has completed the game solo with a human/fighter, how about trying to solo with a pure cleric (normal difficulty from level 1)? (maybe you can do it, patrick - since they are your favorite class) if someone can achieve this, i will gladly give clerics their props as a stand-alone class.

I think a cleric is a thing that you have to have in your party. if you don't have a cleric, what can you do when your druid becomes paralyzed when he casts a spell and your paladin/ranger is dead??? what can you do??? I think the best thing to do is to have 1 cleric+ 1 druid or at least 1 druid/cleric+ 1 paladin/ranger... think about that...

ok, i have played (and finished) a game with paladin and a monk - the extent of my 'healing' was one laying on of hands and one wholeness of body.
the game has been created in such a way that you do not need to have a cleric (that's what there are so many NPCs with healing spells) its just a matter of using what you have effectively. it's certainly more convenient to have a cleric in your party, but the game can be finished without one. and yes, i have given it a lot of thought.

To Lightningpig,
You are right by no means are they a necessity. I never said that, I was just impressed that mine hase like 27% for value and kills. I don't think I will ever play it solo. But that is an option. Let me know if anyone does it.
Fighters arn't useless totally considering he is also a fighter. Sorry I came off all strong. But I do prefer paladins and rangers.

we all agree preference is a matter of opinion, so no offense was taken. and it's natural for one to be proud of one's characters. so no need to apologize. i'm just a bit attached to fighters in general - and i prefer them over paladins and rangers. but to each his own.

ever since i posted the challenge, the concept posed has been intriguing me. so finally i have decided to take it up myself. that's right, i'm going to try a solo pure cleric adventure (in fact i've already created the character - all ready to be played). should be an interesting test of my abilities.
so, what i want to know is if any of you would read a chronicle of my character's exploits - much like the stuff i wrote in the battle squares thread (if you want to see my style of writing, go there and see for yourself - at the end of the first page). like, if i posted accounts of important events, etc. would anyone want read them? if so, please reply and i will create a seperate thread tomorrow and let the fun begin. otherwise i will just play through the game like i always do and just inform you if i finish it, or if i give up coz it gets too iffy.
