I just started a new game and am having some problems with a wizard's attack bonuses.
She is an elf Wizard 3/Ranger 1, is not wearing any armour and is dual-weilding the Wispering Staff and Craftsman's Hammer. When I go to the character record screen and look at her attack modifiers, it reads:
Main Hand: +1
Base: +3
Weapon: +1
Proficiency: -4
Abilities: +1
Off Hand: +1
Base: +1
Weapon: +1
Proficiency: -4
Abilities: +1
If she only has one weapon, the proficieny penalty goes away. My question is this: a ranger wearing light or no armour attacks as if they had the two-weapon fighting and ambidexterity feats, so why is she being assessed the dual-weilding penalty?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT:
Nevermind; I just broke out my D&D3 rule book and looked it up; the two-weapon fighting rules have been applied under the proficiency category and the off-hand weapon is a medium weapon, so the penalty is -4 for each hand. I guess it pays to RTFM, huh?

Jesus saves! And takes half damage!
If brute force doesn't work, you're not using enough.
