That depends on your class, feats, and personal preference. There isn't really a best weapon.

I really like the massive halberd of hate +4 . I think you must be evil, but hey it's nice to be rude, harsch and agressive (in the game I mean). Why I like it. It does massive massive damage 2d8 +4 and is vampiric.

You only have to be no good to use it

I like all the disruption devises. Playing through the game and then again in Heart of Fury, with the same party, I recieved 3 regular maces of disruption, two flaming maces of disruption and a polearm of disruption. All these mimic a paladin quality so-to-speak.

i like high critical range weapons, such as scimitars. combined with improved critical & luck items/spells they produce a stabile flow of critical hits of at least 1/round. to my disappointment, scimitar of souls +3 was a lot less impressive in performance then on paper by the time i got it. still, scimitars as a whole are my favorite wepon group.
another exellent weapon is the bastard sword of heroism, which is +3 to hit, 1d10+3damage, +5 enchantment, extra 3d6 slashing damage, and critical range of 18-20. with this weapon, proficiency in bastard sword holds its own vs. other one-handed weapons.

Don't know what the best weapon is but I find a few dozen fireballs incredibly useful as well as a good level of turn undead.

Fighter with e following weapon
Great Sword : THUNDER SHOCK..
2d6 +1, +1 attack bonus, +3 enchantment
Special:
Bane: +3 attack bonus vs Humans and +2d6+3 vs Humans
Shocking Burst: +1d6 electrical damage & 10% chance of +1d10 extra electrical damage
Yes you guessed it, another fighter with the following
Ambidexterity, Two Weapon Fighting
Main hand: Battle Axe : Scales of balance (Switch between Power and Special)
Power: 1d8 +10 (inflicts 2 additional points per ten rounds)
Special: Enchantment +5
1d8 +5 Attack bonus +5 25% of dispelling magic on target.
Off Hand : Battle Axe : Soul Stealer
Lets just say its a 1d8+5, +5, +5, and has many more special attribs.
+5 to str and 20HP, but you could go berserk.

I installed Wiemer's ease of use mod and so far one of my favorite weapons is the Bastard's son. Unmodded, it's just a crummy +2 Bastard sword, but modded, it gives executioner's eyes when equipped. My critical hit range is 14-20! Combined with Dirty Fighting feat and I'm having a blast.

To be honest the best weapon is the Sorcerer. Playing Heart of Fury mode, my Level 9 monster cast spells them self and take all my skull traps, symbol of death, fear and pain no problem, and they still have enough fight in them to take out the Horde.
Whats can I say. If any body messes with a Level 22 Sorcerer, they better run like the wind or beg and grovel like they have never done before...

basicly any weapon after your magic user has cast executioner's eyes. but there was one weapon whos name escapes me that already had a critical range of 16-20. put that in the hands of a barbarian with 5 attacks/round, berserking, with improved critical feat who has had executioner's eyes cast on him to give him a threat range of 10-20 (1 in 2 hits are critical) with improved cleave and sit back and watch the fun.
