I just started the expansion for baldur's gate 2. My character is a monk and in baldur's gate 2 was a lawful good, but now i'm in Amkethran and I noticed that my character is a neutral evil. Is it only me or other people experienced it?
Oops , sorry for the double post!!! How do I delete it?

You probably made some wrong decision in hell....(SoA)
I think it has something to do with not freeing the djinni...but it's been a while...

I think its usually with the Sarevok test, though. I'm not too sure.
You choose an "evil" decision at the end of SoA, in one of the 5 trials. So, your character's alignment changed. You can change it with SK, but its under "Effects" I think.

No worries. Doesn't really matter. However the only placve you alignment can change is in the tests of Hell. You have 5 trials, any of which if you take the bad path will turn your alignment to evil.
Kind of lame if you ask me.

Yeah, they really didn't give you a choice, did they?
"Oooh, here's this great cloak and sword and ____! But you can't have any of it unless you're willing to turn eeeeevil."
Ah, well. That's what we have CLUA console codes for.

I haven't looked at Black Razor or the Nymph Cloak recently, but don't you have to be evil in order to use them? If that's the case, then the game is doing you a FAVOR by changing your alignment, isn't it?

No, you don't have to be evil to use them.....I'm pretty sure that you don't....

Maybe this should be posted as a sticky since everyone seems to run by this.

Come to think of it, you can use them before you become evil. (Using them is what makes you become evil.) So logically, there shouldn't be any alignment restriction. Sorry I didn't think of that earlier.
I still don't think a Good character should be able to use those items (and I don't think they would even touch them), but obviously, if the game lets Good characters use them, then it's up to your discretion whether, for example, you want to let Mazzy use them. However, in the same spirit of "strictly following the rules", then everyone ought to accept the consequences (i.e., the alignment change) for using them as well as the benefits.
BTW, I think the Good rewards in Hell are usually more desirable than the Evil rewards (with the exception of the +2 Strength bonus you can get from "failing" the Test of Wrath). For example, I think that +2 saving throw bonuses (from the Test of Greed) are even better than getting Blackrazor and 15 extra hit points (and an alignment change that can ruin your Ranger, Paladin, and Cleric abilities). I also think that Immunity to +1 weapons (from the Test of Fear) is better than a +2 Constitution bonus and the Nymph Cloak (and an alignment change that can ruin your Ranger, Paladin, and Cleric abilities). As I said above, I think the +2 Strength bonus from the Test of Wrath is better than the +1 Wisdom/+1 Charisma bonus, but again, you have to be willing to become evil in order to get it, as well as overcome the natural urge to smite Sarevok yet again.
(I'd like to acquire Immunity to +1 weapons before fighting him so that I could toy with him and make him die
painfully.)
