Boo!

So as a reintroduction to IEEP for myself I made a weapon out of Boo. Now all I have to do put something cool in the description. If knowing what he does helps, he does 1d3 damage, if a saving throw vs wands fails at -4 the victim is blinded(hence the go for the eyes Boo), and he returns to your hand. That's about it. If any of you could think up some cool background or whatever that'd be great. Thanks.

Boo exists in a character file in BG2:Shadows of Amn. You can look at his stats with ShadowKeeper or Infinity Explorer, and you can even summon him with the CLUAConsole command CreateCreature("BOO"). There's also a cheat key in BG2 that lets you have him join your party.

Most of his stats are meaningless because he was obviously created by using a generic character template (i.e., most of his stats are 9), but a couple of stats stand out: DEX 25 and CON 3. He's male, Neutral Good, and he has 2 hit points. He looks like a glowing green rat, which I find very insulting (don't the designers know what a hamster looks like?). He's considered a 1st Level Innocent rather than a warrior (you can't make him level up without crashing the game). But if you think he's weak, guess again. He moves much faster than a normal character, his AC is -7, he has 100% magic resistance, all his saving throws are 1, he has 2 proficiency points in "short swords" (because his teeth are treated as +5 short swords), he gets 5 attacks per round, his THAC0 is 1, and he does 2d4+22 per hit.

I like to equip Boo with the Ring of Gaxx, the Helm of Balduran, and the Cloak of Mirroring and let five pretty Skalds keep him company while he fights for truth and righteousness. I had him clean out a big lair of beholders a couple of times, and the only trouble I had was that he was imprisoned once by an Elder Orb.

And to think you want to treat him as a mere weapon. Listen buddy, he's a miniature giant space hamster, and you'd better not make him angry or he'll mess you up. :)

Upon reflection, I decided it might be a good idea to make it clear that I was just kidding around in my previous post. I think that giving life to Boo and having him attack enemies and blind them is a terrific idea. (Did you use a returning throwing axe as a model? I think I'd use something like that.) Unfortunately, I'm not any good at making up descriptions for items, so I'm sorry I can't help you. :)

I know there's a BOO CRE file, and he'd make a good familiar. But I've already made poor little boo into a weapon. All I'm looking for is for someone to come up with a cool description for the item info. And I'd prefer someone who wasn't a huge fan of or even hated Minsc to make this contribution. Eventually if and when I get around to learning how to make mods, I'm gonna make one that let's him join the party or makes him a familiar.

"A creature of intense speculation. It's owner, the odd but loveable Minsc claims he is a minature giant space hamster. Most other people say it is just a hamster. We will never know. What we do know, however, is that he has badass teeth and a bit of a thing for eyes. We recommend extreme caution when dealing with this rodent/alien/unmoveable squeaky thing."

STATS

Hey, why does he only do 1D3, let him do at least 1D6!

Go Boo!

The Giant Space Hamster first appeared in the Spelljammer Monstrous Compendium Supplement. Here's a link to the stats for the Giant Space Hamster

You should be able to adapt the description to your customized Boo weapon. Keep in mind the non-miniature Giant Space Hamsters were raised on huge ranches by gnomes to wind the rubber band motors in their Spelljammer ships. Space hamsters are not naturally occuring but are the breeding results of gnome researchers. Have fun. I'd like to see what you come up with.
