ok I have a couple problems, I have the thief um.. what's his name? you meet him in prison, anyways one of my quests now is to torture this wizard, and get some answers. I can't kill these two things at the bottom of his house, my physical attack take no effect
Also where is a great place from my lvl 7 ranger to level up, oh and not to forget Jaheira.
if I have more I'll post them...

Eh... I'm probably more stoopid than ususal but I'm not sure which thief and wizard you're talking about. Thief in prison, do you mean Jan Jansen? And which wizard? Where is he? What creatures can't you kill?
You can find a quest, especially for rangers, in Umar Hills. Go to the government district in Athkatla and talk to the boy in the middle of the park.

Uh, he probably means Mae'var. That might fit.
Mae'var:
"What's his name?" Hard to remember
"Prison" The place where Mae'var is has jail cells
"Kill the wizard" The cowled wizard
"Two monsters which I have no effect on" The Golems on the second floor of the house have those.
If I am on the right track here, You need a +3 weapon or better to effect the Golems.
TIP: If you have trouble with the Golems you will most likely have trouble with the wizard. Here's a cheesy way to beat him:
When he starts to cast a spell, descend the stairs to the floor below. Wait here for five or so seconds and go back up. Repeat. (Sometimes he descends the stairs after you, in that case wait for him to start casting a spell and ascend the stairs)
Once he's down to just low level spells (Magic Missle, etc.), attack him, his protection spells will probably have worn off my then.
But remember that's just if I'm thiking of the right guy.

Shin Jaon: Even if you're low level, you'll probably have the spells
'protection from fear' and 'detect invisibility'. You'll need 'em.
Also, an annoying thing happened to me after beating the wizard
I didn't save after (finally) beating him and didn't search for traps either. One went of and killed my main char... so I had to reload and fight that damn mage... again.

I always take a few potions of fire resistance and activate his own fire trap a few times to kill the wiz. But that might be just too cheesy.

I would call it smart instead of cheesy.
