Have you ever made a compilation tape for your s.o?
What do you think - is this practice hopelessly romantic and meaningless, or do you find yourself trying to recall a couple of slightly less obvious Al Green numbers ten minutes after meeting a new person?
What is your best tape tactic?
Personally, I am guilty of the crime of putting My Girl on a tape for my girl. I felt bad about it afterwards though, and vowed to replace my Otis Redding Definitive Collection with Collected Rarities as soon as I could
Have you got any track lists of compilations better than sex?
Did you ever try to get your boyfriend to propose to you through subliminal messages in the lyrics of a compilation? Successfully??
I did make a tape for my gf recently, but found myself unable to romantically-justify some of the tracks I was chosing, so I had to make a special section at the end for tracks that weren't meant to be construed as part of the message
I think T'Aint No Sin and The Muppet Show A Cappella Medley were among them

There is such a thing?
On another note, I do occasionally send my wife some of the intimate love poetry which is the best I read, but she tells me she prefers my own words. I don't think my writing is quite *that* good. My sexual performance, on the other hand...

Frogus, I think it is a good idea, you've got a decent taste in music and I think it will work well. Don't go overboard on the smoochie numbers though, don't make it tawdry, keep it simple and sexy. Plus it doesn't have to be too long, forty five minutes is perfect.

Yes, I made an mp3-compilation for Silur when I first met him and he lived in the US. It wasn't very romantic though, since the directions of thoughts at the time were sort of one-dimensional.

Not better than sex, but it certainly makes you think about it...however, I can't post the titles here, because a lot of words in the titles would be censored. But I remember it included a variety of songs from classics such as "Je Taime" with Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin, Donna Summers' "Love to love you baby" and James Brown's "Sex Machine" to house classic "French kiss" by Lil Louis and some very explicit Lil' Kim song, and also some more funny songs about sex. I think it was about 40-45 minutes long.

The experimental group The Residents is to blame for this error, I often write or say "George Brown" because I have an album by The Residents called "George and James" with very weird interpretations of George Gershwin and James Brown songs.

LOL, would love to try that but its not really worth my effort. We greatly differ on music, I personally blame the likes of MTV for this current period of pop culture. I once played Hendrix's "Foxy Lady" but the neighbours complained of the volume.

Anyone can turn down to spare someones ears a few moments of pain, but how many people would give someone the gift of a lifetime without ever being bothered by loud music again?
