You'll find tons of discussion on that subject if you do a search.
My own POV is that a sorc is a lot of fun, and they can become very powerful. Sure you get a more limited spell book, but at least a third of those spells are useless anyway. Far better to go for a smaller number of really good spells that can be unleashed multiple times without needing to rest as frequently.

Also, a sorc is much easier to roll because you don't need a high intelligence, and to the best of my knowledge charisma is not critical for a sorc in SoA the same way that it is in NWN.

I recommand playing the game with a mage in your party atleast once, before trying the sorcerer to get familiar with the spells.
So i recommand reading all the spell descriptions.

I believe someone posted a spellmanuel a year ago or so, it's included in User's Cheese guide.

But when you know what spells to pick, the sorcerer rocks.

Here is a link to the cheeseguide.
It's worth reading, you'll get alot op tips to exploit spells.

Good luck

I like Sorc when playing single class however I tried multi class and now would never go back, F/M/T is too much fun.

Sorcs can be great fun, especially at higher levels.

Have you tried a Wild Mage, however? They're also worth playing, especially if you swear an oath to never reload a fight when one of your spells goes badly (as opposed to attractively) wrong.

actually both sorcerors and mages should never ever roll for intelligence...only wisdom!!!

I should start a thread...

the user's guide to moronic magic users...

you see, intelligence does affect your ability to memorize spells, and I believe cast scrolls, but the incredibly common and cheap potions of intelligence and dexterity both will boost your intelligence to 25, which guareentees you can memorize a new spell on even insane.

wisdom, however, its hard to find the potions that raise wisdom, so its better to have wisdom....

why would a mage need high wisdom?

wish and limited wish spells!!! there are so many exploits for the wish and limited wish spells, its obscene, including the obscene and funny bunny nuke, and a new one, I just came up with that I am asking people to test out for me...

but really, considering the usefulness of wisdom over intelligence, all mages should be gibbering idiots...

this is one of the few flaws of edwin as a npc...he has low wisdom, but high intelligence...he should never use wish spells...or if you use him to cast it, have a char with high wisdom forcetalk the djinn...

of course, there is at least one exploit involving a low wisdom npc, minsc talking to the djinn...

cast limited wish, after every member in the party is protected from undead via simmy or image and the scroll, then have minsc talk to the djinn, ask to be protected from undead right now...

this will summon 6 hostile vampires, who can be turned by viccy, and you can have your vampiric level draining army munch dragons, and other nastys...(immune to deathspell too)
:p :p :p

Sorcerors are way better than Mages IMO. There's almost no contest. just give one a try for a bit and see how you like it.

Dosn't Int also set the max level of spell you can learn/cast?

Yes, but not for socerors.

For mages, the potion takes care of that too. ;)
